The highest level of UV protection offered within the E-SPF® index

E-SPF® is an index rating the overall UV protection of a lens. E-SPF® was developed by Essilor International and endorsed by third party experts. The E-SPF® index relates to lens performance only and excludes direct eye exposure that depends on external factors (wearer’s morphology, frame shape, position of wear).

The higher the E-SPF Index, the greater the level of UV protection provided by the lens

What color lens bases are used to produce the mirror and gradient lenses?

All polarized colors are produced on a gray base.

Gold mirror, red mirror and brown gradient are produced on a brown base to achieve a richer tone.

All other mirror and gradient colors are produced on a gray base.

Are all colors available now? YES. YES, quartz fixed tint will launch mid-2017. All other colors are available now.

Are the lenses approved through managed care?

YES. All lenses can be ordered through EyeMed and VSP using the standard ordering process for polarized and tints. The practice must specify Essilor® Sunwear Colors™ and the specific solid or gradient when ordering.

All lenses other than polycarbonate gradient are categorized for managed care. Polycarbonate gradient approval is in process.

Dallas Processing Center (DPC) - An Essilor laboratory facility located in Dallas, Texas, which produces Essilor Sunwear colors

Essilor® Sunwear Colors™ - A unique range of solid colors and gradient lenses. The colors are available in both standard tint material on a clear lens base and polarized lens material on a gray lens base. Essilor® Sunwear Colors™ are produced utilizing specialized machinery and a proprietary laboratory process at the DPC. All Essilor® Sunwear Colors™ are approved for Xperio UV™ and Varilux® lens designs and are made to order products.

KBco - KBco is Essilor's commercial sun sales and product management team representing the entire Essilor sun portfolio.

Made to Order - Lenses that are not available to stock in your lab. They must be ordered and generally require more time to process.

Made to Stock - Lenses which can be stocked in your laboratory and offer a faster option for processing prescriptions.

FAQ’s Essilor® Sunwear Colors™ All Other Essilor Sun OptionsWhat are the primary benefits of each lens offering?

All lenses are Varilux®, Crizal® and Xperio UV™ approved

Available as Xperio UV™ polarized lenses, standard polarized lenses and standard tinted lenses.

Lenses can be manufactured in-house and do not need to be outsourced.

This results in:• Lower processing costs• Quicker turn time to the

The seven core colors (GRAY-1, GRAY-3, Brown-1, Brown-3, GRAY-Green, Copper and Ruby) are Varilux®*, Crizal® and Xperio UV™ approved.

Do the lenses need to be outsourced?

YES. Lenses are produced using a specialized lab process and machinery located at the Dallas Processing Center (DPC).

NO. Lenses are semi-finished single vision (made-to-stock) lenses.

Can the lenses accommodate a full backside digital design?

YES. All lenses are approved for digital full-backside designs, including Varilux DRx™ and Varilux Stylistic®*.

YES. All lenses can accommodate a full backside design, if the design has a free blank option. GRAY-1, GRAY-3, Brown-1, Brown-3, GRAY-Green, Ruby and Copper are Varilux®* approved.

All polarized lenses in 1.5 and polycarbonate material:

YES, for lenses not Xperio UV™ approved, a backside spincoat can be applied.
