Beverly Hills’ National Junior Honor Society

Beverly Hills Middle School recently inducted 8th grade students into the National Junior Honor Society. These students are among the elite at BHMS. They have demonstrated all four pillars necessary for induction into the program. The four pillars are Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Integrity. Parents, administrators and community members were all invited to attend this annual event. Students arrived in an honorary procession accompanied by flag bearers. Speakers included Dr. Ursone (Principal), Mr. Robinson (Assistant Principal), and Mrs. McDowell (Guidance Counselor). Students also spoke regarding their accomplishments and the pillars for induction. We are very proud of our 2018-2019 National Junior Honor Society inductees. All of whom are named on page 2.

Winter Rewards Day On Friday, December 20th, Beverly Hills students enjoyed Winter Rewards Day! This is a special event for all of the students. Each grade level rotated throughout the school to the gym, auditorium and cafeteria. This rewards day featured Bingo, Minute to Win It games, and Bosch Ball. Students from all grade levels got to experience these fun days if they were “on status.” This rewards day is one of our initiatives with the implementation of PBIS.

Staff Members of the Month

Thomas O’Doherty

Tom O'Doherty is a 6th Grade Social Studies teacher at Beverly Hills. This is his 2nd year of

teaching at Beverly Hills. After working in the automotive industry, Tom decided to

change careers. He was the Director of Athletics for Bonner/Prendie H.S., then worked in the

special education department at Kennett HS. Tom came to BHMS from a charter school in

Southwest Philadelphia. A lifelong resident of Delaware County, Tom and his wife of 37 years

are both graduates of UDHS ‘76. They have two children and two grandchildren. When he is

not at BHMS, Mr. O'Doherty enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Tom

has been a PIAA sports officials for over twenty years as well as an active member of the Drexel

Hill Raiders Basketball program. Mr. O'Doherty loves to travel, he's vacationed in England,

Greece, Italy, and Turkey. During the summer Tom can be found working a summer basketball

camp and going to the beach in Ocean City MD.

Brooke Ferguson

My name is Brooke Ferguson and I am a learning support teacher at

Beverly Hills Middle School. This is my 6th year teaching at Beverly

Hills Middle School. I coach Volleyball and Girls Basketball at Beverly

Hills Middle School as well. I am a 2014 graduate of Bloomsburg

University and a 2018 graduate of Cabrini University. I have a Dual

Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I

also have a Masters in Education for Curriculum, Instruction, and

Assessment. I spend my summers at the beach and enjoy traveling!
