Governor’s Mandate Relief Bills HB1295 (Byron) SB 679 (Newman) Governor’s Task Force for Local Government Mandate Review These bills lift a number of mandates including the following;
the requirement that every local school board appoint an advisory committee on gifted education and a school health advisory board,

HB 656(Kory) and SB391 (Marsden) – Require the principal/designee to notify the parent whenever administrators begin an investigation into a potential violation of a school board policy.
HB 1080 (Hugo) – Requires the principal/designee to notify parents of any “serious violation” and to provide warnings, similar to Miranda warnings, before questioning any student about a “serious violation.”
