This week’s Big Event is Senior Night! Whether you have a Senior or not, it is quite a sight when the parade of Seniors, accompanied by their proud parents, make their way to the center of the gym for some well-deserved recognition. Over the twenty eight years TCS has been around, there are certain events that have become traditions. Our graduating class may be small, but it is an accomplished group of talented and hard-working teens who have achieved a goal of which they are extremely proud. The journey to graduation has been complex and, at times, stressful. On Graduation Day, the atmosphere is intense and the time seems to fly by! The ceremony takes the spotlight. It, too, is a glorious day, but Senior Night is when each senior has their moment to SHINE. Do yourself a favor and come to the basketball game Friday night. Not only will you cheer on our athletes, but you will also have a chance to see each Fabulous Senior and celebrate their journey! It seems that every week I am “reminding” you of more things to do and for which to plan! And, actually, that is an accurate observation. Maintaining a healthy and positive structure for our teens means prior planning on all fronts. Most recently I have asked you to let us know about your school enrollment plans for fall so we can do our planning. January and February are packed with educational conferences, open houses, school fairs and professional recruitment fairs. The more information we all have the better able we are to benefit from the resources that are provided at each event. My next reminder is to begin to plan for summer. Older teens may benefit from taking additional classes for credit or finding a part time job. Younger teens may enjoy an opportunity to enjoy a camping experience. There are a variety of options for enrichment. All teens need a structured and positive summer experience! We will be sending the TCS summer options home in future Wednesday Packets. We are being visited by several summer camp professionals and will make that information available to you once we get the updated brochures. Now is the time to talk to our counselors to see what information you need to gather so your plans are well in place! Last Sunday’s Open House was a huge success. As you have noticed if you drive by local independent schools, this as an increasingly popular trend. For us, having over thirty families visit during the weekend is an undeniable benefit. My favorite way to introduce the school is a tour during the school day to see the classes in session. That is not convenient for many families. However, with the help from our able ambassadors, the visiting families were enthralled with the confidence of the students they met and the expertise of the teachers with whom they spoke. I know that several of you encouraged friends and coworkers to visit on Sunday. Remember the tuition discount for families who refer appropriate families. Word of mouth is our strongest endorsement!
See you at the game on Friday!

Jacque’s Note
It’s time for
SENIOR NIGHT
This Friday, Feb 1st
Between the Girls and Boys
Varsity Basketball Games
(approximately 6:00 pm)
Come cheer on this year’s Seniors as they take their traditional celebration
walk across the basketball floor. This is a time-honored TCS tradition and one we would like all families
to come and enjoy.
Hope to see you there!
TAX TIME!
MANY THINGS TO THINK ABOUT INCLUDING….
Does your student have a diagnosed learning disability? Do you itemize your deductions?
Are you listing your tuition as a Medical Expense?
AND HAVE YOU COMPLETED YOUR GEORGIA GOAL FORM FOR 2013? If
every Cottage School parent participated in GOAL, we would have
sufficient scholarship money to meet the needs of all of our families.
Here’s some information that might interest you. There is a small
Private Special Needs School in Roswell with 35 students. Last year,
that small school raised over $300,000.00. No corporate donations
were involved. Just parents reaching out to associates, acquaintances,
and other families. If a school of 35 students can raise over
$300,000.00, surely a school of 134 can do better than $60,000.00.
Please don’t wait.
GET A TAX CREDIT OF UP TO $2,500.00. Go paperless and file at,
http://www.goalscholarship.org/for_donors/page/goal-paperless-process.
Why give money to the State of Georgia when you can re-direct those dollars to The Cottage School?
THERE IS NO REASON WE CAN’T ACHIEVE 100% PARTICIPATON.

TCS Golf
Team Information
We are very excited about your interest in the Cottage School Golf
Team. There are some things you and your parents will need to know
before you get started
1. Our season is scheduled to begin with practices on February 19th.
a. Practices will be held at Steel Canyon Golf Course Tuesday through Friday and pickup will be
at The Cottage School at 6:00 PM (alternative arrangements can be made if necessary).
b. Home matches will also be held at Steel Canyon; however, adjusted pickup times for those
dates will be listed in the season schedule.
2. There is a cost associated with participating in this sport.
a. Students qualifying for the team will need to pay a one-time fee of $250. This cost covers TCS
sports fees, greens fees, and entry fees for all tournaments throughout the season.
b. Students will need to furnish their own equipment. This will consist of clubs, gloves,
appropriate footwear, tees, balls, and team shirt.
3. Because of the nature of golf as a high school sport, the team may consist of only seven players. In
the event that there is an extraordinary amount of interest, it may be necessary to hold a
performance assessment to establish our team roster.
a. Team selection will be based on a number of factors
i. Existing skill and understanding of the game
ii. Availability to participate in practice and competition
iii. Apparent potential
iv. Conduct on the course
We look forward to having you as a part of our Cougar Golf Team and we are very excited about the
upcoming season. If you have any questions, please contact me, James Prentice, during the school day. I
am available by e-mail [email protected] or my school phone number (770)-641-8688 ext. #5122.
