6. The 2020 USC Bovard Scholars application is now open! We are excited to

welcome our fourth cohort of Bovard Scholars to the USC campus this summer. We invite all high-

achieving high school juniors with financial need to apply. Do you or someone you know fit the

following requirements: be a Junior in high school (11th grader) at time of application, currently

hold a 4.0 GPA or above, enrolled in Algebra II, Trigonometry or above, Demonstrate financial need.

If so, you are eligible to apply. If selected, each Bovard Scholar will have one full year of support

through the admissions cycle and spend three weeks on the USC campus, where they will receive:

Personalized career exploration - Expert admission and financial aid support - Comprehensive test

preparation - Leadership development. This year, the program runs from July 12, 2020, through

August 1, 2020. We offer the program at no cost to students or families. USC will pay for

transportation to and from campus for students coming from outside of Southern California.

7. The Semper Fidelis All-American Program recognizes high school students who face life’s battles with the conviction and determination to succeed. They have turned obstacles into victories through drive and passion and will be recognized for their achievements at the exclusive Battles Won Academy. These students embody the same fighting spirit that Marines stand for by taking on the challenges of succeeding academically while bettering their communities and excelling in athletics and extracurricular activities. This is an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. in July with the mentor of their choice, daily workouts, teambuilding events, tour of the Nation’s capital, network with an elite circle of speakers, and opportunities to apply for specific scholarships afterward. The Marine Corps conducts the Summer Leadership and Character Development Academy (SLCDA) annually to create an immersive youth-character development and leadership program to help identify diverse and exceptionally qualified high school students who have the potential and desire to become future Marine Officers. The United States Marine Corps SLCDA is a six-day summer program at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA designed to prepare rising high school juniors and seniors for college by introducing them to Marine Corps leadership skills, ethics, character development, teamwork, and camaraderie. 10. The 21th Annual Black College Expo is coming back to LA. This life changing event will be taking place on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at the Los Angeles Convention Center from 9 am-3 pm. The After Show and Scholarship Presentation will be from 3-5pm. Students get: On-the-SPOT ACCEPTANCES, Application Fees Waived, SCHOLARSHIPS on-the-SPOT, Networking Opportunities, Seminars and Workshops, Entertainment/celebrity guests, and much more. 11. Discover Woodbury at their Open House event coming up on Saturday, February 1st. It will be a fun and informative day where high school and transfer students are given the opportunity to mingle with faculty, current students, and recent alumni while exploring all that Woodbury has to offer. 13. Attention 8th graders: Are you in DLIP? Would you like to earn your Biliteracy Attainment Award at Promotion? Completion of 20 hours of community service using target language Spanish in service to school or community, is one of the requirements. Please check with Mrs. Tovar or with your counselor to see if your hours will qualify. Submit your hours by February 28, 2019.

The University of Limerick has over 50 different undergraduate majors for US students to choose from, ranging from Business, Liberal Arts, Law, Performing Arts, Science, Engineering and Health Sciences. Students can apply through the common app and our applications process is a rolling admissions that opened on the 1st November 2019 and will close on the 1st July. Once a student has submitted a full application with SAT or ACT scores we would normally have an answer to them on their application within 14 days.

The Altadena Library is seeking Teen volunteers to help school aged kids doing their homework on Mondays, and Wednesdays, at 3:30pm at The Altadena Library Main Branch, and on Tuesdays at 3:30pm at The Bob Lucas Branch (located on Lincoln and Ventura). Homework Helper time is 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Student helpers do homework and reading with elementary school kids. This can be done together as a team, or as a lone volunteer. I am looking to fill positions very soon. This is a great service opportunity for students who are going to be applying to colleges soon! Alert 1 is offering a scholarship to a student who is dedicated to helping seniors in their future career. The winning student will not only receive $500 for tuition and/or books, but they will also win an award of $500 for their school! The Black College Expo is looking for all Juniors and Seniors to participate in the Win Dollars for College Scholarship. The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential

scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate

study. The Coolidge is for Juniors, and may be used by recipients at any accredited American college or

university. Anyone of any background, pursuing any academic discipline of study, may apply to this non-

partisan, need-blind, program. The primary criterion of the Coolidge Scholarship is academic excellence.

Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson

Foundation provides scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to minority high school students

showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or
