On behalf of the Kniahynia Ol’ha Ukrainian Women’s Association I wish to extend sincere greetings

to Archbishop Ilarion, Father Nicholas, their families and all active members and potential members

of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church during this festive season of the Nativity of Christ, the

New Year and Epiphany.

Our Annual Christmas Bazaar took place on

December 3, 2016. Many volunteers worked to

make the bazaar an outstanding success. We

appreciate all the help that was offered and are

grateful to the volunteers. All of the frozen and

fresh foods were sold out in record time.

On December 11, St. Michael’s UWAC had

their annual general meeting. The evening began

with a delicious meal of Chinese food, provided

by the Men’s Society. Thank you to them for

providing supper and dining with us. After that,

the two organizations had separate meetings to

discuss various issues and elect a new executive.

The Easter Bazaar has been scheduled for

Saturday, April 1st, 2017. It will be necessary

to have pyrohy and cabbage roll workshops

every Tuesday, beginning January 31 and

continuing weekly in February and March.

There is a very high demand for our frozen food

products.

On the lighter side:

It was the Sunday after Christmas at Peter and Paul

Church. Fr. John was looking at the nativity scene

prior to packing away the figures when he noticed

that Baby Jesus was missing from the scene.

Immediately, Fr. John turned to the manse to call the

police. But as he was about to do so, he saw little

Harry with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the

figure of the little infant, Jesus. Fr. John walked up to

Harry and said “Well, Harry, where did you get the

little infant?

Harry replied honestly “I took him from the church.”

And why did you take him?”

With a sheepish smile, Harry said “About a week

before Christmas, I prayed to little Lord Jesus. I told

him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas,

I would give him a ride around the block in it.”

Water is thought to have healing and calming powers and to prevent evil

from entering the home.

President’s Message by Ron Kluchka

As 2017 begins, we are remembering the wonderful time we shared with family and

friends on December 25th and are looking forward to the trimmings of Sviata Vechera.

It is also the time to acknowledge the hard work of many volunteers, committee chairs,

bingo workers, ticket sellers and the maintenance crew for all that they have

contributed towards two successful Puschenias, a great Malanka, a well maintained

building and grounds and much needed funds in the bank.

Members of the Women’s Association of our Parish & Jim have also contributed to our

fund raising functions. Special thanks goes to those who cooked, baked, decorated,

set up and cleaned up during the events and days prior to the events. Your assistance

and efforts are truly appreciated and help in keeping our parish strong and united.

Our 2017 Malanka takes place on January 14, 2017 and the Northern Kings will be

providing the music.

Our 2017 Puschenia which will take place on February 11, 2017 and the Chwill Brothers

Band will take the stage & provide the tunes.

Please tell your family, friends, neighbors or whoever else might listen and buy a ticket
