General WasteYour general waste (red lid) bin is collected each week.

Shop right, waste lessOn average, NSW households throw away $73 of food every week because we buy and cook more than we need or don’t store food correctly. Most household food waste is avoidable by:

Did you know? The contents of your red bin are sent to a facility at Eastern Creek where materials are separated out and processed for reuse, and non-reusable materials are sent to landfill.

GENERAL WASTE

Page 10: JANUARY FEBRUARY MARCH APRIL your Waste · the online tutorial and have discounted equipment delivered to you. YES leaves, twigs and branches, grass ... Mobile Recycling Community

RecyclingYour recycling (yellow lid) bin is collected every second week.

Plastic bags RUIN YOUR recycling. Keep your yellow bin bag free.

The items in your recycling bin go through a mechanical sorting process at the recycling plant. Plastic bags jam these machines and stop the recycling process. Don’t bag your recycling. Put your recyclable contents loosely in the bin to ensure they get recycled.

Helping you to recycle betterDid you know that Council conducts random bin inspections to help residents recycle right?

If you find a green Thank You tag on your bin, you’re a great recycler! Our inspector found your recycling was 100% correct - so keep up the good work!

If you find a red Contamination Notice tag, there were some mistakes with your recycling. Please read the tag carefully so you’ll know what to do next time.

To make sure we recycle as much of Parramatta’s waste as possible, we remove recycling bins from households that repeatedly do the wrong thing.

Tips for correct recyclingWatch out for the new Australasian Recycling Label that is being rolled out across different types of packaging to help you recycle correctly. (https://planetark.org/recyclinglabel/)

Remember, if in doubt, leave it out.

Please DO NOT bag your

recyclables
