• Look around your home and yard for wheels. Point out the wheels on your vehicles, furniture, wheelbarrow, lawn mower, stroller, bicycles, riding toys, roller blades, and other places. Ask your child, “Could you use the item if it did not have wheels? Would it still be helpful?” • Play “Red Light, Green Light” with your child. Keep it simple if your child is younger. Hold your child’s hand and run together when you say, “green light.” Stop together when you say, “red light.” After awhile, invite your child to call the directions for you to follow together. • Plan to spend some time outdoors with your child doing snow-related activities such as ice skating, sledding, or making snow people. If it’s too warm for snow in your area, spend an afternoon doing outdoor seasonal activities that relate to your climate, or go to a local indoor ice rink! • Reinforce the letter O by practicing the opposites “on” and “off.” Turn items on and off and have your child say the appropriate word. Try turning lights, a flashlight, music, or a faucet on and off. If your child is interested, extend the activity by practicing positional on and off (on and off of a chair, take a shoe on and off, place a cup on a table, etc.). Ingredients: 3 cups quick-cooking oats 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 1/2 cups flour 1 1/2 cups butter 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Do you live in an area that limits outdoor time in the winter? If so, try these tasty cookies! Dump all of the ingredients into a large bowl and invite your child to release some excess energy by pounding, punching, and kneading the batter. The longer and harder the dough is mixed, the better the cookies will taste! Roll the dough into small balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
