Taft Museum Tour & Lunch Wednesday, March 18

On Wednesday, March 18, you are

invited to join us for a docent-led tour

of the N.C. Wyeth exhibition at the

Taft Museum followed by lunch

on-site in the Linder Café.

This exhibition showcases

the work of N.C. Wyeth

(1882–1945), who was the

patriarch of one of

America’s most prominent

artistic families. This

exhibition brings together

approximately 50 of his

large-scale paintings. Many of Wyeth’s grand images

bring to life the stories of

Treasure Island, The Last of the Mohicans, and The

Boy’s King Arthur—books that are well-loved even

today. However, despite his fame as an illustrator,

Wyeth also earned appreciation for his little-known

fine art paintings. New Perspectives also highlights

his private work revealing a love of nature and the

contemporary American scene.

After our hour long tour, we will have lunch in the

Linder Café from a select

menu. There will be a bit of

time

afterwards to visit the

permanent collection or the

gift shop.

We will plan to meet in the

library at Good Shepherd at 10:30 a.m. to arrange car-

pools and leave in time to arrive at the Taft Museum

for the start of the tour at 11:15 a.m. Our lunch reser-

vations in the Linder Café are at 12:30 p.m.

Spring Grove Cemetery

Spring Garden Tour Thursday, April 23

In October of last year, we

took a lovely tram tour at Spring

Grove Cemetery of the stately

trees. Folks found it so

enjoyable that they requested a

spring tour of the gardens. On

Thursday, April 23 we will

take another tram tour and, with

a little cooperation from mother

nature, see some of their beauti-

ful trees and plants in bloom!

The tour begins at 10:00 a.m.

and will last about an hour and

fifteen minutes. During that

time, our tour guide will take us

around to view the many garden

beds and describe the various

plants and horticulture. After-

wards, we will make the five

minute drive to Ruth’s Parkside Café and enjoy lunch.

We will plan to meet in the library at Good Shepherd

at 9:00 a.m. to arrange carpools to Spring Grove. The

tour cost per person is $4.00 and we have a cap of 24

for the tram, so please register early.

The tram is covered overhead with open sides and is

not handicapped accessible. The tram will run in

light rain, but not strong winds or heavy rain.

Cost: $32.00 per person

Cost includes tour and lunch

Registrations accepted until

Wednesday, February 26 or until

all 24 tickets are sold

On Monday, March 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the

Community Room, we will once again host a

Life Management Skills Workshop here at

Good Shepherd. The topic for March’s

workshop will center around dementia and brain change related

challenges.

Most of us know someone, be it a friend or family member who

has dealt with, or is currently dealing with, some form of

dementia. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions, concern and

change for everyone involved. And even with the plethora of

articles and information you can find just a click away, it is still

hard to know what to do or how to manage this condition in the

long-term when it affects someone you know and love.

We will have three speakers each with a wealth of information and

experience as it relates to dementia and navigating the journey.

The workshop is free of charge, but you will need to register so we

can provide enough seating, refreshments and materials.

Dealing with Dementia Monday, March 30 | 5:30—8:30 p.m.

how they attack the PC and how to protect against them.

to store the back-up copies that were created.

There is no need to bring your laptop or any device with
