Description

This is an opportunity which very few school students get the chance to experience.

The exact details of this two day event will be provided nearer the time. Day 1 will

take place at The University of Sheffield and Day 2 at Sheffield Hallam University. You

will take part in team games and activities, meet lots of students and do some of the

things you might actually do at a university, including an introduction to some subject

areas, attending a lecture and a seminar. All meals are provided, and you will sleep in

actual student rooms in the Student Village. There will be evening entertainment, and

you will also have some free time during the event. There will be lots of hands-on

activity and you will have fun too.

What to do now.....

Your careers adviser is the HEPP link person at school, and will go through the brochure

with you. You don't have to go to every activity (although you are invited to them all),

but we would expect you to come to at least half of them.

Some events are in school time, and you will need permission to attend them from your

school. Your careers adviser will either ask on your behalf or tell you who you need to

ask, so please keep them informed. However, some are in school holidays and at

weekends, and we will be adding to what's on offer then so that you'll have plenty of

choices. You will get updates and reminders about these from the Heads Up Crew at

your after-school meetings.

Do I need to book?

For most activities you will need to book a place. This is because we need to book the

right sized room and pay for meals, refreshments and transport in advance, and in some

cases we are paying a fee. The other adults (including employers, university staff and

students), are also kindly giving up their time to be there and we need to make sure

there are enough of them there. For these reasons we need you to book in advance, and

late bookings won't always be possible. Should we not have enough people taking part,

we may have to cancel an event.

How will I get there?

This will depend on the event. In some cases school minibuses will be used. In others

HEPP will provide a minibus to and from your school. In exceptional cases (such as for a

very small number from one school) HEPP will provide transport or refund the costs of

transport if necessary. If you book in advance, this will be organised for you.

If you have any questions, please ask your careers adviser or get in touch with us at

HEPP - telephone 0114 225 2935 or email [email protected].
