The gardens of the Emperors and nobles were designed for recreation and aesthetic pleasure, while the gardens of Buddhist temples were designed for contemplation and meditation.

BRIEFWith this property, our clients knew that they wanted a Japanese style garden with the could black as the framework. An existing patch of grass was situated near the deck, they wanted this space to become a usable area as it would be an extended entertainment area.

CONCLUSIONA new Japanese garden was created at the entry of the property, this lead to the back of the house where the deck was extened towards the fenceline and the grass patch became a decked patio. A new Spa area was also created with a custom outdoor shower on the side.

BRIEFThis design is for a new property that is currently being built. We designed the landscape for the entire house but this garden area was the one with most meaning. This garden area lies in the middle of 3 walls which looks straight through to the garden. The propertys architect had a small brief of the garden becoming a japanese garden with water, stone, timber and a type of bridge.

CONCLUSIONThis gardento Soulscape became the garden that everyone would want to look at. Keeping a traditional Japanese tranquil garden(Tsukubai, Shishi Odoshi) would allow the area to become aesthetically peaceful. The store of water is kept in the garden in honor of an old ritural of purification.
