It was a wonderful opportunity to not only meet with your child's Class Teacher, but also with other members of our staff team and Governing Board. Parents were also given a talk on resilience by our Educational Psychologist Kristen Strahlendorf and Zaheera Patel, the Chairperson of the PTA, explained the role of the PTA and also the class Mom/Dad system. As of last evening, there was a vacancy for a Grade 4 representative. I am not sure if this has been filled yet. Parents were also given an update of some new developments this year such as the RAVE-O Reading Programme and RAVO-O Room, RAVO-TOWN, Support Classes in Grade 5 and 7 and the Gross Motor Programme in the Foundation Phase. These initiatives will enhance the quality of our teaching and the educational experience of our children. Life 2020 I am privileged and excited to attend the Life 2020 Educational Conference under the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa, (ISASA), held in Lapland, Finland next week. Finland's Education System is world-renowned and I have the opportunity to learn about Finnish Education, visit Finnish Kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and a vocational college. In addition, I will attend inspiring keynote lectures by Finnish Education experts. The theme of this year’s Conference is Digital Literacies Across the Life Span. I am sure that I will bring back a lot of new ideas and approaches that our teachers can implement at Japari to further enhance and improve our teaching practice to benefit our children. New Playground Equipment Work has begun on constructing the new playground using composite material. We are replacing all wooden play structures with composite material, which is superior and is designed to guide play, exploration and discovery, which are all used to foster our children's holistic development. From the Sports Desk

Unfortunately, the cricket matches on Wednesday were cancelled

by Orchards Primary. On Thursday afternoon our KFC mini

cricket boys played their first match of the season against

Emmarentia Primary. What a lovely afternoon. A big thanks to the two children from Rosebank who had to help

us out to make a full team. It was so appreciated. It was lovely to

see some dads who came out to support our boys.

Well done to Pabalelo Motsepe for his eight runs and two wickets,

Hamzah Limbada for his six runs and one wicket, Kananelo Hlapane

for his six runs, Ephrem Gabore for his nine runs and Matteo Levitt

for his two runs and one wicket. Keep up the good work boys.

Coach Patrick, Brian and I are so very proud of you all.

A letter will be sent home early next week for the Inter-House

Swimming Gala.

Regards

Mandy Wheeler
