Personal StatementI’ve always been broad minded, never comfortable just doing one narrow subject. I have a strong creative side to me, but am also keen on the academic side of life too. I often develop and share ideas, but I want to know how they will be achieved. I’m not one for unrealistic pipe dreams, but I do embrace new ideas and try to find a way to make them possible - and ideally as soon as possible! I’m a lateral thinker, which in practice means realising that everyone else’s opinion is as valid as mine. I think this approach is crucial when working as part of a team to ensure good morale and a constructive atmosphere.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCEDIGITAL PRODUCTION EXECUTIVE (January 2015 - )MediaZoo

I joined MediaZoo as a Digital Production Assistant, assisting on shoots and working heavily in Adobe CS to produce graphics for a major client learning project. Soon in to the position, I was promoted to Digital Production Executive and took over control of all of the film and graphic work for the E-Learning department. I currently play the role of a producer, director and editor within the department, organising all shoots for e-learning films, most often filming them myself (on occasion with second camera, sound and other crew) as well as editing the films. During times between shoots, I also assist on scriptwriting, graphics (printed & screen), testing and module development.

FREELANCE FILMMAKER (2011 - 2015)

Working freelance gave me the opportunity to work across the board from planning to shooting and editing. I loved the variety of people I worked with; some charities and others corporate. With time management fully in my control, I was required to be very diligent in order to meet deadlines. This included the hefty administration task known to man as ‘tax returns’!

‘TOUR MAKER’ VOLUNTEER (2014)Tour de France

I volunteered over two weeks for the Tour de France as it visited Yorkshire. I welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister to Leeds, and welcomed VIPs to the opening ceremony at Leeds Arena. I also helped with distributing information on the street and act as a steward on the day talking to and helping crowds.

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER (2014)Hope for the Future Campaign

I managed and produced content for the Church of England’s ‘Hope for the Future’ campaign. In addition to building the website (hftf.org.uk), I filmed/edited all of the videos online. I was also responsible for most of the copy text, and initially for the social media pages. I liased with the campaign organisers through regular meetings in person and on Skype to help guide them in their needs, which additionally included creating printed material.

SOCIAL MEDIA RUNNER (2013)TheConnectedSet for Channel 4

I worked as a runner on the social media campaign for ‘Fried Chicken Shop: Day in the Life’. It involved talking to people out on the street, getting them to Tweet about it and like the page on Facebook, creating the buzz around the show.

DIGITAL ASSISTANT (2012)Leeds International Film Festival

I worked for free for LIFF 2012, covering film screenings. This included filming atmos shots, valuable interviews with the actors and directors, and editing the footage into promotional material for their website. All shifts required working late evening shifts, and editing during the daytime between screenings. There were incredibly strict deadlines I had to adhere to for this project, with shorts needing to be online just hours after shooting.

EDITOR (2011)Trinity Leeds & Left Eye Blind

For a competition brief ‘2.8 Days Later’, I produced a short film. Taking control of the editing and second camera, I also assisted with production throughout this short brief, and by delegating roles effectively, produced a winning film.

INTERESTSCities, cultures, politics, people, places. For the last four years, I have vlogged my travels on YouTube (see link above) and would love for this audience to grow massively. I closely follow community issues such as regeneration, as I am interested in urban development and architecture. Perhaps it is down to my multicultural background that I love travelling and enaging with the world. I would love to spend time working in another country. I run and love a day out of the city at the weekend. The thing that most excites me? Space. Perhaps one day I’ll be an astronaut and travel light years across the universe, but for now I’m happy to just be amazed!
