“We are already on Facebook” – If you are thinking this, here are some statistics that would make you think otherwise.
The average number of friends in facebook is 150, the average number of people passing out per year in a college is 650. That is missing out on 500 good people who may turn out to be IAS officers, leading entrepreneurs, great managers or able philanthropists.
At an average, 1 in 10 people go for higher studies abroad to various institutes. Atleast 50 people from a batch go to foreign/Indian universities. That is missing on a chunk of people who can be path guiders for more to come.
The career influential period for a person starts after 3-4 years in a field. At a time when they are able to do something for the college in terms of placements, donations etc - the alumni hardly know anybody in the college to do anything. Our sample population had a success rate of 2%.

Facebook and other social networks have an ad relevance ratio of 30%, meaning 70% of the ads on facebook are spam/not relevant to the user.
Facebook does not allow upload of documents. On an average, a person spends atleast an hour a day
in a social network (Facebook, Google +, orkut etc), what if that in that one, we enable the person to do a lot more than watch videos or pictures. What if we could use that hour to make it informative and yet fun.
Grad powered has been tuned to offer fun along with purpose. Being together is to interact and develop the need to stay in touch. The features provided can be put to the best use in any form of interaction. It has strict levels of privacy and yet allows to form a networks that grows.

With photos, groups, events and forums – We provide a power packed networking tool that helps to catch up, showcase new things and form a closed knit circle.
There will be groups such as Mechanical 2012, English department, transport department, music club etc. When the administration wants to reach out to one or more of the groups they can address the required members leaving out the rest. A typical example would be to inform the students on a workshop being conducted on robotics. This would be addressed to the mechanical group of students belonging to the third and fourth year.
Apart from the ones that are created by the college, the students will have the ability to create groups. Example of such a scenario would be 16b club, Yamaha owners etc, where they can post and like their comments coupled with images and videos.

College endorsed events like inter college paper publishing, an awareness event to help people, convocations, semester results or even a scholarship program that the college may provide to deserving candidates. It can be used to raise funds, entry for any event can be charged as well.

On an average a college student pays a minimum of 50% more for books when purchased outside, expenditure that is unnecessary if that person had known the proper seniors who have it but no longer need the book. Here are some implementation examples

Any students who becomes a part of this network will stay on for life. Once a student graduates, the profile will be modified to list the professional attributes of the person. This would include place, line of work etc. A well connected Alumni network helps to guide the future generations in the college in terms of knowledge and job opportunities. Only 6% of students are in constant touch with alumni. This leaves a large gap in terms of development after college. Lets build a bridge that stands for years to come.

To keep people informed on events, the need to catch their eyeballs is a must. We facilitate that by using customizable slots that can fit advertisements of all sorts. And to make this even more enticing, the advertisements can be targeted to a specific crowd. A music event would be shown to a person who has listed their interest as music and a drama would be listed to a person who has listed interest in acting. A training in aptitude would be listed to both the above candidates as it would be to all people in the college.
