Is a genre originated at the beginning of 20th century by the African-American communities combining European harmony and form elements with their African music.
The African basis is evident in the use of blue notes, improvisation, polyrhythm syncopation and the swung note or shuffle note.
He was an influential American jazz musician, composer and electric bass player.
He’s known for his technique, Latin-influenced 16th note funk, his lyrical soloing and his innovative use of harmonics.
