Jazz Studies at UNO The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Jazz Studies Area offers a wide range of experiences for instrumental musicians from all majors on campus. The award-winning Jazz Ensembles continue to receive acclaim for their outstanding musical performances from internationally recognized jazz artists, clinicians, and adjudicators. The UNO Jazz Program has garnered a global reputation from embarking on international tours in 2003, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Class offerings include Jazz Piano, Jazz Arranging, Improvisation and Jazz Pedagogy in addition to private lessons and weekly masterclasses. Performance opportunities include large jazz ensembles and numerous jazz combo groups. Competitive, audition-based scholarships are available on all instruments, as well as additional monetary awards for select ensemble participation.
