Job Number:004582 Job :Engineering Organization:United Kingdom Schedule:Full­time Shift:Day Job Employee Status:Regular Job Type:Standard Travel :Yes, 20 % of the Time Job Posting:Feb 16, 2015 Primary Location :Western Europe­United Kingdom­OldburyMain Purpose of Role • Perform technical audits on pressure equipment/manufacturers, to ensure that the requirements ofstandards/European directives are met. • Carry out inspections as required by standards/European directives at manufacturers in the UK andoverseas. • Provide technical services to support activities carried out by affiliates, clients, trade bodies or SGSpersonnel to ensure that pressure equipment design and inspection requirements are met. 

Key Accountabilities 

• Carry out assessment of pressure equipment against National / European and International standardsand where applicable in­accordance with the requirements of the relevant European directives (PED,TPED and SPVD). • Carry out technical audits of pressure equipment manufacturers against the requirements of therelevant European directive (PED, TPED and SPVD). (Training to be provided) • Carry out pressure equipment/welding/manufacturing inspections. • Review technical packs produced by field staff (UK and overseas) and from the information containedprepare necessary certification. • Develop technical procedures when identified as necessary through audit, or when new services areadded. • Ensure that SGS technical personnel have the necessary skills, qualifications and organisationalawareness to enable them to carry out their responsibilities competently and effectively. • Carry out assessment and audit of SGS technical personnel. • Respond to client/affiliate enquiries for advice/quotations on pressure equipment assessment withinthe scope of our accreditation/approvals. • Provide a focal point for advice and assistance on pressure equipment assessments/inspections. • Assist in maintaining UKAS accreditation and other technical approvals. • To carry out the duties of the Verification Engineer as defined in the Industrial Services qualitymanagement system (procedure QMS­03) • Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct, and act inaccordance with SGS UK’s Equality & Diversity Policy, and ensure others do so. • At all times, adopt a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself,colleagues and clients, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures. 

Qualifications

Skills & Knowledge 

Essential • Technical knowledge to make professional judgements on pressure equipment designs and ormanufacturing procedures. • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Desirable • Knowledge of PED, TPED and SPVD. • Knowledge of technical audits. 

Experience 

Essential • Minimum 3 years in design, manufacture, or inspection of pressure equipment. Desirable • Carried out technical audits
