- Prologue -

“Holy shit, there he is again,” Bobbi gasps.

The tall handsome man in the dark blue business suit nonchalantlywalks up to the Frozen Fruit Drink kiosk. He waits for the counter

person to spin up another sweet concoction. His fingers tap lightly on

the counter to the beat of the horrible mall music piping through the air

above them. As Bobbi stares, he idly adjusts his wrist watch. His broad

shoulders and tight buttocks are just two reasons her legs suddenly turn

to jelly.

“Who?” Kelly asks, looking around.

“Him,” she points quickly to the kiosk, retracting her hand before hecan see her.

“That guy again?” Kelly asks and stares at his backside for a

moment.

“Yeah, I see him all the time now,” she says simply, “it's

freaky...let's get a drink,” she mutters quickly and drags her friend by

the hand to the counter, directly behind him.

Bobbi's hands are warm and sweating and her skin begins to tingle.

Something wakes up between her legs again. The man in the suit takesout a crisp twenty dollar bill and straightens it for the cashier as he

always does. It snaps like a whip. Bobbi winces as if a hot leather belt

was just flicked between her own tender breasts and her heart thumps.

Bobbi tosses money unceremoniously onto the counter at the bimbo

making drinks. She knows it's been six months now and she's seen him

almost daily around the city, and always randomly like now. Well,

maybe not completely random…

He places a couple dollars in the tip bucket and waits for his frozen juice drink. He slips his wallet back into his crisply ironed suit pants.

The perfectly groomed man seems to glide away from them to the end

of the counter under the wooden PICK UP sign dangling on two thin

chains from the ceiling. He says something funny to the person behind

the counter, the point of which is completely lost behind the young

girl's hazel eyes. He stares for the briefest of moments and shrugs.

“The bitch doesn't even get it,” she mutters to Kelly as he smiles at

the complete idiot behind the counter. Bobbi loves it when she is this

close to him. She can smell his musky clove and lavender scent all

about him. She stares at the nape of his neck and notices how well his

hair is perfectly trimmed.

He glances in her direction suddenly, for ten seconds, and seems to

look into her brain; Bobbi feels like she's not more than a painting to

him and hopes he doesn’t say anything; she’d have to reply and her

throat seems to be locked up.

She averts her eyes immediately and pays the cashier for their drinks

that she just ordered. He thanks the girl behind the counter and walks

off slowly in the direction of the escalators.

“How do you always seem to see this guy?” Kelly asks Bobbi as she

is handed her drink.

“I don't know,” she says, slyly, tripping over herself to follow him

up to the next level of the mall.

“Yeah, I believe that, too,” Kelly retorts quickly.

“I am going to be owned by that man some day,” Bobbi states, as a

matter of fact.

“Owned?”

“Yeah,” she replies dreamily, dragging Kelly along, “Hurry up!”

“I have no idea what you area talking about, you know that Bobbi?”

Kelly gasps, almost out of breath.

“Yeah, it's okay. I'll explain it to you sometime.”

“Oh, I can't wait,” she shrugs, sipping her frozen banana strawberry

mango spirulina concoction as she rises with Bobbi on the escalators, twenty or so feet behind the man in the suit.

“Well, at least he has a fine ass,” Kelly says between breaths as

quietly as possible. He looks around again and causes both of them to

blush horribly.

“Yes he does,” Bobbi whispers happily.

Fascinated as usual with the way he walks so importantly, (yet still

in no rush whatsoever), Bobbi stops dead as he enters the jewelry shop

on the third floor. Her nape hair stands on end. She realizes that thiscannot be a good sign at all.

Moments later, she drags Kelly over to the sunglass kiosk across the

aisle and peers inside the store; the most horrific sight suddenly appears

before her.

She stares open mouthed at the back of his head as he holds up the

wedding ring to the jewelers light. They are exchanging pleasantries, to

her, like arms dealers; two people dealing an unknown emotional death

blow aimed directly at Bobbi. She drops her juice and it explodes all over the side of the sunglass

kiosk. The girl behind the counter hands her a wad of paper towels,

hardly moving from her stool, and Kelly grabs them and begins

mopping up the mess Bobbi made. Nothing seems to exist to Bobbi,

Page 4: Jealousy: The "Teaser" Prologue

and her vision tunnels uncontrollably towards this man with someone

else’s engagement ring.

Bobbi stares in disbelief as he smiles at the jeweler who hands him a

small white jewelry box with the dazzling ring now comfortably inside

it on display. She can see the gorgeous diamond sparkle against the

purple satin from where she's standing. It's gorgeous. It's huge. It's

dream-like.

It's not hers.

“And why should it be, he doesn't even now I exist” she cries

silently, unable to rip her eyes away from the sight of him.

“Why should what be, Bobbi?” Kelly asks, still patting her legs

down with the paper towels.

He snaps the lid of the jewelry box and grips it in his fingers,

smiling brightly like a little kid that just caught a home run baseball.

The sound breaks Bobbi from her stupor long enough to see that she is

covered in frozen juice drink from her waist to her ankle, but she

doesn't care.

“He's getting married,” she says, numbly.

“Bobbi, for chrissake, you are covered in frozen juice like a

popsicle,” Kelly responds, laughing; wiping her shoes with more paper

towels.“He's getting married.”

“Yeah, I heard you. Sheesh you have a one track mind sometimes,”

she says as she hands the pile of frozen drink covered paper towels

back to the cashier who handles the mess indifferently. The man in the

suit heads directly towards them, and rides the escalator down, ring in

one hand, drink in the other, passing within a few feet of her. He

doesn’t seem to notice her at all, or the mess along her leg. Kelly picks

up the mostly empty container of what’s left of Bobbi’s drink andhands that over to the sunglass kiosk girl as well.

Bobbi walks away, heading towards the front of the mall. She

crosses over the main road and walks down the sidewalk following

him. The air is crisp and warm. Hardly a breeze. Kelly is racing to keep

up.

She waits on the curb as he enters his building. Bobbi then heads

towards the parking lot of her school.

“Where are you going?! We still have two periods left Bobbi,” Kellysays and runs towards her.

“I'll see ya,” she says, ignoring Kelly, still watching the revolving

doors to the office building he entered spin slightly.

Bobbi places the key in her car door and Kelly catches up with her.

Bobbi reaches across the passenger seat and unlocks the other side

door, mechanically.

“You okay?” Kelly asks, opening the door and kneeling on the front

passenger seat, looking around for teachers.

“Yeah..huh?”

“Alright?” Kelly asks, as Bobbi turns the key in the ignition.

“He's getting married,” she repeats, quietly; barely above a whisper,

staring straight ahead.

Kelly mutters something that is lost on Bobbi’s ears and jumps out

of the car as Bobbi shifts into reverse. Standing with her hands on her

hips, she watches Bobbi pull out of the driveway before running back

into school.

Twenty-one minutes later Bobbi is already home, sitting on a

wooden kitchen chair, staring at the clock. Her shoes are neatly placed

near the door on the welcome mat, her books are piled perfectly on the

kitchen table. Bobbi's hands rest nimbly on her knees, rubbing them

lightly, as she recounts the last hour of her life over and over again in

her head.

Six months ago she started watching him, almost by accident.

Actually, bumping into him and having her books fly all over thesidewalk was the accident. She remembers how he smiled and helped

her pick them up one by one as some other people in suits waited for

him. She blushed furiously the entire time, unable to look into his eyes

for more than a moment before feeling her privates heat up.

For those few minutes, he paid attention to her as if she were the

only other person alive. And then he walked off leaving her speechless.

She then began following him from his office to have lunch every

day with clients, with himself, with coworkers. She really didn't gknowwho these people were, but was jealous all the same. He never saw her,

she made sure of it.

It hasn't been that hard as her high school is a block from his office

building. The staff at Saint Lucifer's Academy, believing in allowing

young adults to act as fully grown ones, allows their students to walk in

the city for lunch. Up until Bobbi collided with him, she would usually

use this time as well as any free periods to hang out in the mall with her

friends.Oh yes, free periods, lunch periods (and the occasional class

skipped) - she made time for him for the past six months. He's always

busy, though, as if he was the most popular person in the city. With

only three weeks left until school is out for the summer… all this time

Page 6: Jealousy: The "Teaser" Prologue

and she still doesn't know what he does for a living; well, besides how

he kills her silently now...

Her strawberry blonde hair falls into her face. She flattens the hems

on her school uniform skirt with her fingertips and looks at the clock.

It's barely two o'clock. Her parents won't be home until Sunday. As far

as they know she's still in school until three p.m., but she knows it

doesn't matter anyway.

An hour later, after lingering in her room aimlessly, she opens her

history notebook and finds what she is looking for. It took her an

instant to realize what she must do.

For the past two months, Dave, a tall lanky dark haired boy in her

history class, has resorted to whispering dirty things to her whenever he

gets the chance. His crush is crazy, and by the sounds of what he

whispers to her in class to try to make her blush- he is completely

demented to boot. Through it all, Bobbi has ignored his advances with

a cold wall. She's been so fixated on the man in the suit to care about

some stupid perverted boy. Well, not today.

She picks up the phone and calls Dave's cell phone. She considers

for a moment that he has probably lost all interest in her, but dials his

number anyways. After all, she thinks, there's only so long a boy can

take being blown off completely. To her, and most people she knows, Dave is weird, to put it bluntly.

Weird in a dark way; a way she can't quite explain. She's been turned

off completely by the thought of him, but as of recent events of late,

namely an hour and twenty-two minutes ago, she's not feeling all that

good about herself. In some twisted way, she blames herself. If only

she got the attention of the man in the suit for more than a few

moments and actually acted upon it instead of letting him go marry

some slut instead…She resigns to her sudden need to be punished, and Dave is the

perfect candidate for the new job.

He's on the phone now after two rings. The conversation is direct

and to the point. She knows he hasn't lost interest after all. Of course

not. She decides the moment she hears him pick up, that Dave is going

to have his way with her whether he wants to or not. If she can't have

that beautiful nameless man, Dave will have to suffice for now. Dave

will make good punishment for her being so lackadaisical.Besides, she doesn't deserve anything better for letting that man go

like that. How dare she let him get married? But what can she do now?

Page 7: Jealousy: The "Teaser" Prologue

For a moment, she considers that he could have waited one more

year for her to get up the balls to talk to him. She would be eighteen

and legal, and he'd be twenty-seven and still as sexy as ever...

“So,” she says as Dave answers the phone.

“Who is this?”

“It's Bobbi.”

“Oh. Well this is interesting,” he says calmly. He tries to be sexy

and aloof on the phone; her smile is sardonic as she considers his lame

attempt. He doesn't realize it doesn't really matter what he says at this

point.

“You should see how interesting it is over my house with my

parents gone till Sunday,” she states coldly.

“I should,” he says, almost posing a question, as if only mildly

interested; As if she can't hear that he is standing up now. She hears

keys him jingling his keys before they are muffled; and then and his

breath is hard. She holds back a laugh, wondering if he’s going to catch

on to the fact that he’s her pawn now.

A moment of silence. She leans her head so the phone is stuck in the

crook of her neck and she places her hands together, smiling with her

eyes closed. She hears Dave strike a match and light a cigarette. He

takes in a deep breath again. She begins to realize this is her last chance to pull out of this

situation when the phone clicks like a loud prison door in her ear. She

holds the receiver to her ear for a few moments until the dial tone

sounds loudly and then slowly and carefully places it on the cradle. She

stares into the blandness of the numb afternoon summer sunlight

seeping through the shades of her bedroom windows.

It's too late, she thinks. She heads downstairs into the kitchen. She

places her blouse and skirt methodically over the back of a chair in thekitchen. She remove her bra and panties. The door to the kitchen opens

and then closes with a boy’s whispered gasp a brief moment later. She

can hear the click of the deadbolt and nothing else.
