Mitochondria contain the various enzymes and machinery to carry out respiration in cells.

The carbohydrates, Proteins and lipids are degraded during respiration and smaller molecules like pyruvic acid, amino acids and patty acids are formed.

Mitochondria are called the power houses of the cell.

The DNA can synthesize some RNA and proteins.
