Jeevan Jyothi Trust Annual report Kollegal & Jageri 2019 Dear friends, dear well-wishers, We have a dream that our children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, by their castes and intellectual abilities, but by the content of their character. AS WE CAN DREAM IT WE CAN DO IT !! In 2019 everything started well and the girls were ready to face the exams of the end of the school year. All girls study in good schools and are boarded in our Hostel, which allows us to frame them individually and stress- free. For our children with very heavy disabilities, they are bedridden and cared for round the clock. When I started the Rehab Center project, I was informed by the medical community that children with chronic diseases as well as being heavily handicapped, were at risk and that it was to be expected that some children’s lives would be short. Despite everything, the death of a child remains heartbreaking. In 2019, we lost three children, aged between 8 months and 18 years. This requires enormous patience and the kind dedication of our personnel always touches me. Our Specialized Adoption Agency brings a new spirit; saving infants brought by the government is a recognition. The playschool section is a project for girls with physical challenges as well as mental retardation and thus, learning disability. Some need medications and support for their daily routines. They follow a play- based learning school throughout the year; outdoor activities, recreation, dance and crafts are highly privileged. Caring for young institutionalized and bedridden children requires a exclusively female presence. We employ about ten women to be able to guarantee the 24h shifts. In fact, trust is crucial to running the organisation and our management with three employees dedicate hours without counting to maintain the quality of the JJT. Two security guards 24h and a driver to drop girls to school. Our farm in Jageri expands every year. We produce a part of the fruits and vegetables, and the milk needed for children is largely enough for all kids. The excess is sold to the dairy co-op. The two young men, who arrived in 2001, learned the trade of farming and each one takes part with heart in the work. So, as for me, I’ll move back to my hometown in February 2020. But for now, it’s too early to schedule a next trip to Kollegal. I want to thank each and every one for your kind support and cooperation throughout the year. Jeevan Jyothi Trust Annual report Kollegal & Jageri 2019

Dear friends, dear well-wishers, We have a dream that our children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, by their castes and intellectual abilities, but by the content of their character.

AS WE CAN DREAM IT WE CAN DO IT !! In 2019 everything started well and the girls were ready to face the exams of the end of the school year. All girls study in good schools and are boarded in our Hostel, which allows us to frame them individually and stress-free.

They follow a play-based learning school throughout the year; outdoor activities, recreation, dance and crafts are highly privileged. Edith Stecher Michael Founder/President

All kinds of medical traumas are managed by the emergency room at Apollo Hospital in Mysore. The Rehab Center is under surveillance 24 hour; however, the presence of a qualified nurse is not always necessary. Our executive director is available 24 hours and when there is an emergency, he immediately manages the emergency admission.

GIRLS FROM PLAYSCHOOL WITH MILD DISABILITIES.

The care of the 8 teenage girls facing various disabilities is organized around concrete activities: cleaning, cooking classes, reading, crafts and recreation. Apart from this the girls manage to do their day to day routines under the supervision of the teacher. As part of the safety measures due to the COVID-19, Government has passed order to handover the children to their respective parents, thus we have sent three girls home. They will come back after the lockdown.
