The students entered the gym and ran laps around the gym for a warm-up. The students gathered in the center of the gym for instructions and then lined up to practice jump rope skills with a large rope. A rope was tied to the side of the gym and the students ran through the rope as a warm-up. The students broke into smaller groups to practice jumping. At the close of the class the students regrouped and reviewed the goals of learning the jumprope. They are preparing for a "Jumprope for Heart" competetion. The class enjoyed jumping rope and most of the students were engaged.

    * Counting down for students to listen. * The students were familiar with meeting on the school seal to receive instruction. * Repeated instructions were given on occasion -- consider shorter, direct instruction given with firm authority to avoid repetition.* When students were working in small groups you moved to each group and helped them with rope turning.

The physical education lesson included a warm-up, instructions for the day, whole group jumping acitvities and small group jumping activities. The variety of activities provided different levels of engagement for all students. In your lesson plans you included an overview chart of the week by grade level that is very helpful. Your lesson plans are very detailed and well developed. Consider ways to condense the plans for a "week at a glance" approach by grade level. Multiple pages of lessons for each week can be challenging to use and maintain over the long haul. You are engaged with the students during the lesson and provide ongoing feedback. Consider waiting for all students to stop talking before proceeding when you are providing instruction. You are putting your full energy into doing your best.
