• Fabric A. Jelly Roll of your choice 40 strips 2 ½″ x 40″ cut into 5″ strips = 288 strips = 48 coin stacks = 24 blocks (You will have more 5″ strips but these can be used to make a pieced backing or binding, or add to your stash)

• Fabric B. Black homespun cotton cut into 2 ½″ strips (you could use a jelly roll if you don’t want to cut strips but you will need 1 ¼ Oreo jelly rolls) Cut 78 strips 2 ½″ x 12 ½″ Cut 52 strips 2 ½″ x 15 ½″

• Fabric for backing and binding • Batting • Matching thread

• All seams are ¼″ • Do not pre wash fabric, Jelly Roll will fray. • Press seam allowances to one side without

steam due to the fact that the strips are not pre washed.

• Use a colour catcher when washing your finished quilt for the first time.

INSTRUCTIONS Cut each jelly roll strip into 5″ lengths. Trim off the selvedges as you cut the strips. Arrange jelly roll strips in stacks of six strips. Note: You can either do this randomly or be fussy and try to have only one of each fabric in each coin stack.

Cut each 40″ length of black into two 12″ lengths and the remainder piece will be used for the long sides of the blocks. Lay blocks out randomly 6 high by 4 wide Hint: Try to chain piece as much as possible to cut down on sewing time. Groups of five to ten work best. Hint: Take a photo of block arrangement and check to see if any blocks stand out or blend in to much and rearrange as necessary Sew the blocks together with an accurate ¼″ seam to make your quilt top.
