This practice teaching portfolio was prepared and developed to provide
and share experiences for those who will undergo the same undertakings.
Some classroom difficulties and problems that he had encountered are
mentioned, and the lesson that he had learned. The greatest value of this
practice teaching portfolio is that it serves as the mirror of the practice
teacher for their progress and achievement in their practice teaching. And
also this practice teaching portfolio was prepared to expose the pre-service
teacher experiences so that they can use it in relating their theories learned
inside the classroom to become globally competitive.
Another purpose of this practice teaching portfolio is that it assess the
pre-service teacher’s learning for the preparation in future life in facing the
real world of teaching. The pre-service teacher must do always their best in
imparting knowledge to the students. Just love your students so in return
your students will be embracing you too, with the great things you’ve done to
them not only in cognitive side but in affective and psychomotor
development.
Help me to be a fine teacher, to keep peace in the classroom…
…Peace between my students and myself
To be kind and gentle…
To each and every one of my students.
Help me to be merciful to my students, to balance mercy anddiscipline…
…in the right measure for each student
To give genuine praise a s much as possible…
…to give constructive criticism in a manner
That is to be fair to my students.
Help me remain conscientious enough to keep my lessons
always interesting, to recognize what motivates each of my students,
to accept my student's limitations and not hold itagainst them.
Help me not to judge my students too harshly, to be fair to all,
to be a good role model, but most of all Lord, help me to show
your love to all of my students.
Amen.
I am a TEACHER…
I accept the challenge to be sagacious
And tenacious in teaching every students
Because I believe every child can learn.
I accept the responsibility to
Create a learning environment
Conducive to optimum achievement
ACADEMICALLY, SOCIALLY, and EMOTIONALLY
I actively pursue excellence
For myself and my students.
I provide a model of decorum and respect
That guides my student as well as honours them
I affirm superlative expectations for my students and myself.
I cherish every child.
I am a TEACHER.
I change the world, ONE STUDENT AT A TIME
The philosophy is that people must believe in something. According to
John Dewey, education is by its nature an endless circle spiral. It is an
activity, which includes science, because in its process, it raises problems to
be studied which then reacts upon demanding more through, more science in
an everlasting sequence.
This definition of education makes it imperative to a person to have a
philosophy of education and beliefs in the function of teaching.
A teacher should believe in the intended processes and activities to
produce desirable changes in the behavior of students. We must believe in
the capacity to effect these changes, promote and facilitate these changes
through the mastery of the subject matter and the use of appropriate
methods and techniques of teaching.
A teacher also functions as manipulator of teaching learning
situations. As a manipulator, he believes in his ability to create a series of
operations directed to change specific behavior. These are just the parts of a
teacher’s educational philosophy.
As a student teacher, he must believe in something that will eventually
help him in setting the goal of his life. This will focus on the values and
objectives of the new social order; it will help the teacher in analyzing and
organizing his objectives; crystallizing the thoughts that will serve as a guide
to prevent a teacher from getting lost their maze of his many-faceted chores.
The school occupies premier place in the construction of the society,
particularly in the matter of changing the attitudes toward community. The
role of the teacher plays will be a crystallizer and an evaluator of the
educational program under the democratic society.

My experience starts 2nd week of December 2014 and I was very
excited at the start of the day. I was pretty nervous during that day, although
the first two weeks is only observation but I can’t hide the nervousness, the
thrill, the excitement of this moment. All my emotions are mixed up and I
only need to do is to build my confidence and trust to myself.
As I observe the whole class handled by my cooperating teacher, I see
my old self, it’s like I am looking at the mirror seeing that it was me when I
was in my high school days and now I really understands why it is hard to
become a teacher. Yes it is very difficult and I think the most challenging part
is to build the authority inside and outside the room, studying the lesson is
just a piece of cake if you compare it in building authority, and in that I have
a hard time. Because they have different attitude so do I need to deal all of
those for me to have a connection to them.
In also this same month my cooperating teacher assigned me to teach
the class because he needs to deal something that day, so I prepared a lot
knowing that my cooperating teacher will not be around to help me in class,
also I prepare myself in everything that would happen in that day. I know that
this is the time for them to see and to identify the authority I have when I will
be inside the classroom.
The day I have been waiting for is finally arrived; I only need to focus
so that I may deliver the class in learning new things, and acquiring new
knowledge. Yes, I was so nervous that day and I feel like my tongue hides.
Now I will face my students, I must put my shame at my back and place my
confidence in front so that the only thing that my students will see is purely a
professional teacher. At first, you can say that I commit a lot of mistakes
because it is new in my routine but as times goes by and each class I meet
there was an improvement I become more vocal on what I want to say and I
think I have enough confidence to handle this class.
This month of January, 2015 my cooperating teacher and I teach the
student how to install conduits. Conduits are the path where the wire travels.
We teach the class how to bend, to install different kinds of conduit in wall
and the materials needed to do this task. Sometimes it is my cooperating
teacher who discusses the lesson and I am the one who will facilitate the
class in the activity they are working out. And sometimes me and my
cooperating teacher changes position I will be the one discussing the lesson
and he will be the one who will facilitate the activity.
In the month of February, 2015 both me and my cooperating teacher
are preparing for our Demonstration Teaching, it is not only me who will have
a Demo also my cooperating teacher, because he will be the one who will
represent not just the school but also the Quezon City Division. I feel also his
stress as his schedule of demonstration teaching come closer and closer,
because his schedule is earlier than mine.
After our demonstration teaching we feel that it is like were at cloud9,
and both of our demonstration is a success and that’s because of the class
were handling is the best.
Now, when the month of March, we are now teaching our class how
electrical wires are installed. And the reason why my cooperating teacher
inserts this topic it is because it is the essence of being in this elective. Why
become an electrician if you are not trained in electrical wiring, quite logical
and true. So day by day we are putting the class in several problems in
electrical wiring and letting them installing electrical wires.
And also this month is for me a good bye, because this is the time we
must tell our cooperating teacher that we must go and good bye because we
need to finalize some things in the University in preparation for our
Graduation.
Thank you again Mr. Michael F. Villalon and also to my students.
HISTORY OF LAGRO HIGH SCHOOL
Let us reminisce history….
In the early seventies, the growing number of people in the GSIS La
Mesa Homeowners Association (GLAMEHA) triggered the need for a high
school in Lagro Subdivision. The officers of GLAMEHA requested fervently for
an establishment of a high school next to Lagro Elementary School. With the
aid of the city government and the education bureau, Novaliches High School
with Mr. Florencio Dumlao as principal started accepting students. This high
school annex started on June 13, 1974 with 87 students and a facility, which
were humbly two housing units in Block 59 and chairs the students provided
themselves.
On August 26 of the same year, Lagro Annex was transferred to the
Lagro Elementary School compound and occupied the sawali-walled
makeshift building. The high school was then headed by Mr. Crispulo A. Pilar
with Mr. Narciso M. Caingat, Mrs. Nilfa C. Caingat and Mrs. Greta Manlapig as
pioneer teachers. Two years after, the enrolment rose to 249 from the former
87 with three sections in first year, two in second year, and one in third year.
They were all managed to stay in just four classrooms guided by nine
teachers.
The first graduation from this high school happened two years after
with an increased enrolment of 461 with Mrs. Josefa Q. Maglipon, head of the
Home Economics
Department in Novaliches High School, who replaced Mr. Pilar(who left for the
United
States).
The School Year 1977-1978 reached 774 with 15 sections occupying
seven classrooms. With this problem on accommodation, Mr. Florencio
Dumlao appealed to the national government for a Lagro Annex Building.
Through the unrelenting efforts of the department head-in-charge and with
the PTA lobbying behind, the 1.3 hectare present school site, and building
became a reality.
At the opening of classes on June 11, 1978, 923 students flocked the
newly constructed building which was a two-story 18-room structure standing
proudly with Mrs. Maglipon as head of the school. She was replaced with Mr.
Silverio Reinoso. Mr. Reinoso had to continue with the challenge to manage
19 sections of students with just 32 teachers.
It was the significant day of September 1, 1978 that Lagro High School
was inaugurated by Mrs. Commemoracion M. Concepcion, the former schools
division superintendent. Thus, it has become its foundation day. Hand in hand
with the influx of residents in Lagro Subdivision is the continuous increase of
student population. And to accommodate this increasing population, a
sixroom building on the southern site of the campus was constructed. The
school then also improved with the completion of concrete fences
surrounding the campus, construction of the stage and the new steel
flagpole, all to house and educate the community.
Mr. Reinoso was replaced by Mrs. Virginia H. Cerrudo on September of
1981. Mrs. Cerrudo was replaced with Ms. Felicidad C. Gutierrez in 1987
bringing another building funded by the city government. The same year
created the Lagro High School-Payatas Annex with 257 students. This annex
was assigned to Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista, who was then the Social Studies
Department Head of the Main School. Promoted as Principal IV Ms. Gutierres
was transferred to E. Rodriguez Jr. High School. Mr. William S. Barcena took
her place as the principal of Lagro High School on June 1991.
Three years after, Mr. Barcena was replaced by Mrs. Cristina C. Monis,
the General Education Supervisor I-English, as Officer-In-Charge on January 8,
1993. Mr. Gil T. Magbanua replaced Mrs. Monis on June 13, 1993 To
accommodate the continuous increasing enrollees, the three-story building
funded by the Quezon City Government was constructed. The third Annex in
Fairview was finally opened with Mrs. Justina A. Farolan as the Teacher-In-
Charge. Dr. Consolacion C. Montano replaced Dr. Gil Magbanua later on with
more improvements.
Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista made her comeback as the principal of
Lagro High School in 1998 with improved facilities and technology
advancements for the school. The dawn of more improvements was realized
when Dr. Fernando C. Javier became the principal in April 2003. The
construction of the new building previously applied by Mrs. Sheridan
Evangelista was built and inaugurated by the successor, Dr. Javier. The SB
Building and the full renovation of the formerly called Social Hall was
transformed into a multi-purpose conference room conveniently equipped
with multimedia projectors and modern sound technology now being utilized
for events, seminars, workshops by the whole division. The construction of
the new gate, renovations of all facilities and the covered court; Lagro High
School now boasts of not only its talents but it’s conducive learning ambience
sure to provide every learner more motivation to pursue his dreams.
Lagro High School reaped achievements in the district, division,
regional and national competition under Dr. Javier. The Bureau of Alternative
Learning System was established and soon after the Open High School. The
Special Education Program was established accepting deaf and blind
students. The Guidance Program was also enhanced and improved with the
administration of Dr. Javier. International competitions, speech and debate
contests sponsored by the government and private companies, Palarong
Pambansa, National Schools Press Conference and the creation of the Special
Program in the Arts which annually showcases talents in its culminating
activities.
Today, as we speak, Lagro High School does not only have a growing
number of enrollees but also consistently develops as a community that
consists of highly competitive and productive members under the
supervision of the new principal Dr. Maria Noemi Moncada.
PHILOSOPHY
The development of the young into an intelligent, morally upright,
responsible and productive member of the society is the main focus of
education. For this reason, Lagro High School believes that every Filipino High
School age youth must be given the right to quality instruction in a
compassionate and caring environment.
VISION
Lagro High School is an educational institution that produces
academically competent, morally upright and vocationally prepared citizens
of the society.
MISSION
To ensure the maximum intellectual, social, emotional and physical
growth of the child and strengthen moral foundations through relevant and
adequate learning experiences in a nurturing and caring school environment.

1. The teacher will divide the class into two groups and each group will choose five (5)
representative that will represent their group, after that he will give the materials needed
for this activity
2. The teacher will explain the mechanics of the game
2.1 Student will make a path so that the ball will travel from it, from one end to
another. (The student can exchange places ones the ball passes on them and connect
to the end until the ball is on the end point)
2.2 The game will start when the teacher shouted “Give me ‘me ball”
2.3 The first group that will finish the race will be the declared winner.
D. Unlocking Difficulties
Adapter/Connector- is a device that converts attributes of one
device or systems to those of an otherwise incompatible device or
systems
CONDUIT/TUBE/RACEWAY – an enclosed channel of metal or
nonmetallic materials designed expressly for holding wires, cables,
or bus bars, with additional function as permitted in the Code.
PVC – Polyvinyl Conduit. Plastic but unplasticize meaning without
any characteristic of plastic
Working Diagram –it is where you will see the specification of a
plan, what material you will use.
II. Presentation
INSTALLING RIGID NON-METALLIC CONDUIT
Step 1- Studying your plan
The first step is to study your plan. In studying your plan you will see
the specification of it, what materials you will use, how much in
quantity.
Step 2 – Choose and preparing the right materials need for installing electrical
conduit
After you know the materials needed in your project, this is the time
you choose the right materials needed and providing it.
Step 3 – Chalk out the wiring plan
Sketch the conduit route from your power source to the new electric
box location and note the length of the run and all the boxes,
connectors, and wires you need.
Step 4 – Measure the amount of conduit you will need
Use push pull rule to be more accurate in measuring the right length of
conduit you will use. Conduit should be exact in length to prevent extra
effort and waste of materials.
Step 5 – installing the box, adapter and conduit in place
In installing PVC, we should remember to put hand gloves to protect
our hands in unnecessary injuries we may have if we commit mistake
in mishandling materials or tools.
The next step is to place your box in the wiring board. You can attach it
by using screw and screw driver
The right sequence in installing rigid nonmetallic conduit is this:
THEN THEN THEN THEN
THEN THEN
Activity
1. The teacher will divide the class into four groups.
2. Each group will install rigid nonmetallic conduit into the wiring board
3. Only 30 minutes is allowable for each group to install rigid non-metallic conduit
4. After the students installing the conduit according to the line diagram. The
teacher will assess the finish product the students have done using a rubric.
(note: this will serve as their quiz for this lesson.)
III. Closing Activity
Generalization
In installing PVC, we should remember five (5) things; (1) we should always study first
our plan so that we may prepare all the materials needed for this, (2) always have work
etiquette be focused first on your project so that you will be efficient in time and effort,
(3) be prepared ahead of time, (4) always look for your best project, in all project you
will doing do it in an excellent way and lastly (5) clean your place before you leave.
In this ways you will become an inch closer in becoming a true electrician.
VALUING
VS.
Which is more desirable? The left side or the right side? One characteristic of an
electrician is “being organized” when we say organize it defines that everything is in its
place. As future electrician we should be organized, do not let your project become a
mess instead in a more organized way. By this way you will save effort, fund and time
tremendously.
