PURPOSE

The Jeremiah Milbank Society, initiated by Boys & Girls Clubs of America in February 2004, is designed to encourage and promote individual giving to Boys & Girls Clubs and recognize those with a deep commitment to the children of their community.

While Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides a platform for a national recognition society and offers guidance to Clubs in development of local societies, Clubs have the final responsibility for ensuring member recognition. Clubs receive all financial contributions from Society members.

MISSION

At Boys & Girls Clubs, we serve with one purpose: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Boys & Girls Clubs appreciate the support of caring people and leaders like you to help reach children who need us most.

Your support helps us:

• Provide the experiences that enable today’s young people to conquer tomorrow’s challenges

• Develop and implement effective programs, hire and train staff, and keep expenses low so that all young people can participate

• Welcome and inspire more children who need our guidance each day.

BENEFITS

Society members set the highest standard in caring for the youth in your community. As a member in The Jeremiah Milbank Society, you are recognized for your generosity with the following membership benefits:

• Prominent recognition in your local Boys & Girls Club

• Listing, with other philanthropists in your community, in your Club’s publications

• Invitation to join other top donors to Boys & Girls Clubs at a prestigious national annual celebration, hosted by a distinguished individual

• Listing as a distinguished member in the national The Jeremiah Milbank Society annual report as a leader who supports young people through your local Boys & Girls Club

• The personal satisfaction of knowing that you are taking a lead role in improving lives in your community.

GUIDELINES• Annual membership is for individuals who

make unrestricted cash gifts of $10,000 or more to a local Club.

• Gifts are to be paid in one year (i.e. multi-year pledge payments totaling $10,000 are not eligible). However, payments during the year that total $10,000 or more are eligible.

• Donors can be recognized as individuals or as couples. For example, John Smith or Mr. and Mrs. John Smith can be recognized for membership as the result of one gift of $10,000.

• Donors whose gift comes through a company they own or foundation in which they make decisions about funding can be recognized, but only in their name, not the company or foundation.

TYPES OF GIVING

There are several ways to give to your Boys & Girls Club and become a member of The Jeremiah Milbank Society. Examples include gifts of cash, stock and securities, or by payroll deduction. You can double or even triple the value of your gift if you or your spouse work for a company that offers a matching gift program. Contact your local Club for more information about ways you can give.
