Engagement Potography

I am sure you are still glowing in the excitement of the proposal and are excited to start planning your wed-ding day. An Engagement Session is a perfect way capture that glow of excitement and to express you both as a couple.

This type of photo shoot will prepare you for your big day and give you a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera. It will also give us a chance to bond so you feel at ease with me on your big day if you choose me as your wedding photographer.

I’m happy to give you as much direction as you would like for poses and gorgeous locations. Our local area has some amazing spots to get away and surround ourselves with stunning landscape.

WWe can discuss props or styling themes for the shoot too. It’s a fun way to create a unique look with items and props that are special to you both and illustrate your love. A love I would be privileged to capture.

What happens during the session?Once we’ve decided on a location, a typical session will Once we’ve decided on a location, a typical session will last about an hour. During our time together, I will get you comfortable with the idea of being photographed. I’ll make you laugh, I’ll make you smile. I will even make you do silly dance moves! Just kidding. Maybe. It is meant to be fun and it is. Sure, there will be “poses” but I’m trying to capture the real moments in your interaction and that natural smile that comes just after a laugh. natural smile that comes just after a laugh.

What to wear?Wear something fun, something nice, and most importantly- something that is you. If that’s a bow tie and geek chic glasses. Do it! Floral summer Dress and a pair of cowboy boots - Go For it! These are your photos to look back on years from now. My best advice would be to keep it timeless. As far as colors, I like the idea of having some contrast with your environment to add a bit of pop. I also recommend a bit of layering. It will allow you to add variety to your session without having to completely variety to your session without having to completely change outfits and will also come in handy if the weather drops from 70 to 40!

Can we do something creative?Well, did you know that there is a women’s lifestyle company called “Jess Carrier Creative?” There is. I own it. OF COURSE WE CAN do something cOF COURSE WE CAN do something creative!!! Do you want to bring a big white arm chair out to the middle of a field? YES. A desserts only picnic at the lake? I’m listen-ing. A miniature bowling shoot? I don’t know what that is, but we can do it! It’s about letting your personality come through and what better way to show it than by crafting a shoot around a theme or style that is reflective of who you awho you are as a couple. Of course it doesn’t have to be elaborate for it to be beautiful. Creativity and originality can come in any shape or size. Even Location. HAVE PASSPORT. WILL TRAVEL :)

What does an engagement session cost?All of my wedding collections include engagement ses-sions; however, if you would like to book only an engage-ment session it is $250 and includes all of the digital files with full print rights. If you go this route, then later we can just deduct the cost of the session from your wedding collection - if you choose me as your photographer.

I will be there for the bouquet and garter toss, the dances and to document the en-joyment on the faces of your friends and family as the celebrate your union.

THE PARTY

Then the moment of the Bride and Groom’s grand entrance and your first dance together as husband and wife will be captured along with all the key moments of toasts, speeches, cake cutting and the smiles and laughter of friends and family.

THE RECEPTION

Family photos are usually taken as the guests are enjoying cocktail hour. The Bride and Groom portraits then will be followed by photos with the bridal party at our pre discussed locations.

THE WEDDING PHOTOS

The ceremony site and it’s details will be shot before the Bride makes her entrance. I aim to capture the grooms reaction along with the emotions of family and friends during the key moments of the service.

THE SERVICE

Photography coverage begins with details of the Bride’s dress, shoes, jewelry bouquet and special items. I follow up with shots of the final preparation of the Bride and bridemaids.

The Bride’s individual portraits aThe Bride’s individual portraits are next and special group shots with the bridesmaids. If given enough time, I will then visit the Groom and shoot the Groom’s details, Groom portraits and special group shots with the Groomsmen.

I do have the correct lenses and camera to shoot with-out flash. I have shot a majority of my wedding ceremonies using no flash.

MY CHURCH DOES NOT ALLOW FLASH.IS THIS OK WITH YOU?

I advise my clients to book their wedding photographer as soon as they confirm a wedding date. I will onlyhave limited dates available so the sooner the better to avoid any disappointment.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO WE NEED TO BOOK YOUR SERVICES?

ARE YOU A FULL TIME PHOTOGRAPHER?

I shoot with the Canon 5D Mark II, and my assistant uses the Canon Rebel T3i. I have a range of lenses at different focal lengths.

WHAT CAMERA DO YOU SHOOT WITH?

I would say the average for my clients is around 6 - 8 hours.

HOW LONG IS THE TYPICAL COVERAGE FOR A WEDDING DAY?

Yes I do. I edit them in Lightroom and Photoshop.I will choose the best of the best from your photos and perform subtle editing so your photos all have the most beautiful feel to them.

DO YOU EDIT THE PHOTOS?

The amount of images you will recieve depends on the amount of photography coverage you select for your day. I generally turn over around 200 for a 5 hour day and over 400 for an 8 hour day. But there is no guarantee of a specific amount.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE RECEIVE?

Yes I definitely travel. Travel over 1.5 hours will require accomodations and travel charges.

I have recently taken my wedding photography ser-vices international to document special moments in the lives of clients all over including: St. Louis, MO - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico - and San Diego, CA.

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

All of my weddings include myself, along with an assistant photographer. I feel it gives an extra dimension to your wedding day giving you many different angles and opportunity to cover all events of your day.

HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS WILLBE AT MY WEDDING?

My style is very candid and relaxed. I don’t like to get in the way, especially in the ceremony, and unless I tell you to look at the camera then I aim to capture you just as you are. I get a lot of inspiration from fashion magazines and love to put it all together to tell an editorial style story of your wedding day.
