Jessica Reiner: Charity helps firefighter’s daughter afford college

Jessica Reiner is the daughter of the late Eric F. Reiner, an LAFD Firefighter/Paramedic, who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in 1998 while airlifting a young girl to the hospital. The crash was caused by rotor failure.

“My father had great plans for me, which included a college education,” Jessica said. “I want to honor his

memory and remain active and involved with the LAFD.”

Thanks to a special memorial scholarship from the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund, Jessica is pursuing her education.

Helping our brave firefighters and their families in times of crisis is simply not possible without the kind and generous contributions of our gracious donors.

Venita’s Story: Charity assists 106-year-old firefighter’s widow

Venita’s beloved husband passed away in 1984. She has lived in the same house for decades, but due to her age and finances, she was unable to perform much-needed maintenance on her home.

Luckily, the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund was there

to step in and assist. Firefighters volunteered their time and labor to demolish a substandard structure, and she is now receiving help with her health insurance.

Thanks to the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund, Venita has been able to remain in her beloved home.

Helping the families of our brave firefighters in their time of need wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations of our kind and caring supporters.
