Here at PCYC we will being implementing projects long in the planning stages. Watch around the club for changes and renovations as we move into the new year. We all enjoyed a special evening at the Open House/Change of Watch. It was great to see the Past Commodores out in force for the ceremonies. We all can learn from their experience and leader- ship. I would like to thank PC Doug Young and previous board mem- bers for all of their help in getting us to where we are today. We are constantly reminded of the dedication of the many that have gone before us. Many people help you get to where I find myself today. My wife and family have devoted much time and effort to allow me to spend the time necessary to be the Commodore. I want to thank them for their sacrifice. Fellow flag officers VC Geoff Bailey and RC Todd Bickley are looking forward to working with the rest of the board to provide you with an unforgettable 2010. Starting off our social calendar is the Recognition Dinner on January 9th. Brad Schwan and his crew do an outstanding job with the prime rib and the evenings festivities begin early to allow for a speedy program. Be sure to get your reservations in to the bar early. The Winter Brunch follows on the 24th. Andy Killen and his committee will offer a large array of your breakfast favorites. Be sure to plan now to attend the February 6th Bring Your Own event. This is always a favorite event at the club. Keep an eye on your club yearbook calendar and watch for updates from Jim Widmer, our club secretary via the internet. During the next few weeks the social committee will be plan- ning the 2010-2011 social calendar. Please volunteer to chair an event to allow us to continue to offer great occasions. We are the envy of many clubs that surround us because our members and their families keep up the participation. Let us sustain that same effort we have always shown. It is your Port Clinton Yacht Club. Enjoy it as often as you can. Commodore Mike Towning OFF AND RUNNING I would like to once again thank those who have offered sup- port, as I became the PCYC 2010 Rear Commodore. Specifically, I would like to thank ( I think) PC Jim Amato and wife Char for ask- ing Bobbi and I if we would like to serve on the Social Committee. Little did I know what the next six years would lead to. As was stated at the Change of Watch, if Jim offers to buy you a drink, run! Thanks should also go out to PC Dave George for his con- tinued support throughout the process and PC’s Chuck Reichman and Mike Nitz, who as Commodores, I had the distinct pleasure of serving with on the Board. I would also like to recognize the 2009 Flag Officers, Commodore Doug Young, Vice-Commodore Mike Towning, and Rear Commodore Geoff Bailey; as well as the 2009 Board consisting of John Schaffner, Corey Stine and PC Mike Nitz. Their leadership abilities were critical during a challenging, economic 2009. I would be remiss if I did not thank my wife, Bobbi, for her sup- port over the past years, and our children, Elizabeth and Maureen, who both were able to attend the Change of Watch. As the Rear Commodore last year, VC Geoff Bailey did a splen- did job and several projects were completed, which he highlighted in the December Jib Sheet. One last project to be completed is the installation of the new carpeting in the bar. Hopefully, this will be completed by the end of January. A change from the previous year in that Phil Bolte has agreed to replace Jason Bodager as the Dockage Chairman for 2010. Thanks to Jason for all his hard work over the years and thanks to Phil for volunteering to undertake the dockage duties. One committee that needs to be recognized once again is the Riser Committee. Thanks to Steve Alexander, Todd Warncke, Jason Bodager, Phil Bolte, Doug Franck, Ted Wierzba, and Eric Reynolds for a job well done. The work is hard and strenuous, but they seem to enjoy it. Please accept my apology if I inadvertently left anyone out. With the cold, snowy, windy Ohio winter upon us, please con- sider attending the Winter Brunch, which is scheduled for January 24. Andy Killian and committee prepare a fabulous breakfast, with appropriate refreshments. So come on down and enjoy and shake off those winter doldrums. Rear Commodore Todd Bickley Attention Members! VOLUNTEERS NEEDEDThe New Year brings hopes and aspirations for all. Here at

PCYC we will being implementing projects long in the planning stages. Watch around the club for changes and renovations as we move into the new year.

We all enjoyed a special evening at the Open House/Change of Watch. It was great to see the Past Commodores out in force for the ceremonies. We all can learn from their experience and leader-ship.

I would like to thank PC Doug Young and previous board mem-bers for all of their help in getting us to where we are today.

During the next few weeks the social committee will be plan-ning the 2010-2011 social calendar. Please volunteer to chair an event to allow us to continue to offer great occasions. We are the envy of many clubs that surround us because our members and their families keep up the participation. Let us sustain that same effort we have always shown.

It is your Port Clinton Yacht Club. Enjoy it as often as you can.
