EJOLT (Environmental Justice Organizations, Liabilities and Trade).

• Which are the causes of increasing ecological distribution conflicts at different scales,

• and how to turn such conflicts into forces for environmental sustainability?

EJOLT wants to increase the visibility of resource extraction conficts and waste disposal conflicts. It wants to improve policy responses to and support collaborative research on environmental conflicts through capacity building of EJOs. A key aspect is to show the links between increased metabolism of the economy (in terms of energy and materials), and resource extraction and waste disposal conflicts so as to answer the questions:

EJOLT is based on a previous project: CEECEC (teaching and learning Ecological Economics with civil society organizations).

• This was a FP7 Science-in-Society project coordinated by ICTA UAB between 2008-10.

• Environmental NGOs wrote chapters for a Handbook, a Glossary was added, and we ran a course in internet (www.ceecec.net)

• A book will be published by Earthscan with the title Ecological Economics from the Ground Up (edited by Hali Healy, JMA etc).

• New edition of the CEECEC course, Sept-Dec 2011. Applications welcome.
