Developed and authored 3-semester curricula for the “Community Development and Self-Reliance – An Ownership-
Driven Sustainable Model” that will be offered in August 2017.
Care for Life – USA and Mozambique, Sub-Saharan Africa Apr 2005 to Feb 2016
International Program Development Director
Designed, implemented, managed, evaluated, and refined the Family Preservation Program (FPP), a sustainable,
ownership-driven, scalable, and holistic approach to community development. (FPP) became Care for Life’s
flagship program achieving the following results:
o Annual participant cost reduced by 300% and number of beneficiaries went from 680 to 25,000 in 5 years
o The Family Preservation Program was recognized in 2010 as one of the US Top 10 Programs in United
States by the Global Health Task Force and Center of Citizen Diplomacy – US Department of State.
o Harvard University Consulting Board stated in 2012 “Care for Life stands out among NGOs because it has a
much more robust data collection process than several related organizations.”
Designed, implemented, and managed three other major community-based programs integrated to Family
Preservation Program:
o Credit/Savings Associations Self-Reliance Model (2012) – developed the habit of saving and made
microcredit available for 3,700 families.

o Family Health Testing Week (2007) – made it possible for 23,000 people to be tested for HIV/AIDS. Of this
total, 4,800 that were tested positive received counseling and began antiretroviral treatment.
o Family Garden and Community Agriculture (2006) – enabled 4,200 families to harvest from their own
vegetable gardens.
The implementation of these integrated programs achieved the following milestones:
o Families planting a family vegetable garden increased from 7% to 41%
o families with an individual improved latrine went from 30% to 93%
o families drinking treated water from 12% to 98%
o families developing a formal income generation activity from 28% to 72%
o Mortality rate was reduced the from 3.0% to 0.7% in FPP communities
Authored, co-authored, and internally published various training materials, curricula, and classes such as How to
Start and Manage a Small Business, Family Health Booklet, Family Vegetable Garden and Community Agriculture
Booklet, Self-Reliance Credit/Savings Associations Manual, and Small Business Plan Simplified Guide.
Hired, trained, and managed the scope and quality of service of 85 national staff, including National Director,
Coordinators, Supervisors, Field Agents, and more than 1,400 Community Volunteers.

Microcredit Evaluation Intern
Developed and implemented a training program utilizing case-study methodologies.
Managed the development, implementation, and analysis of assessment/research conducted among 420
microcredit clients, evaluating the impact of the loans on the quality of family life. The result was
positive for 87% of the families.
