JOB DESCRIPTION TEACHING ASSISTANT Post Title: Teaching Assistant Scale: Grade 4 Point Range 7 to 11 Responsible to: Head Teacher Responsible for: Supporting students to overcome identified cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and other barriers to learning. Working hours /pattern/term: 32 hours Term Time Only Location: The post holder will be based at Westcroft School The post holder may be required to work at another school in Wolverhampton from time to time or for a specified period. Disclosure level: Enhanced Post Purpose: Supporting students to overcome identified social, emotional, behavioural and educational barriers to learning. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To work as part of a team within school to manage, co-ordinate and provide a complimentary service to existing teachers, welfare and guidance staff. To monitor and support the needs of students who require help to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the school, in order to achieve their true potential. To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides all students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential. To contribute to raising standards of student attainment. To use data to help identify student need, and develop strategies which will provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth for students To provide learning support for students as directed by the teacher To contribute to planning and preparation of differentiated materials and programmes. To effectively track and monitor progress, maintain appropriate records and prepare thorough documentation for statutory reviews and inform teaching and learning.

Scale:Grade 4 Point Range 7 to 11

Responsible to:Head Teacher

Responsible for: Supporting students to overcome identified cognitive, social, emotional, behaviouraland other barriers to learning.

Working hours/pattern/term:

32 hours

Location: The post holder will be based at Westcroft School

To liaise with teaching staff to endure continuity of care and support forlearning

To be actively involved in behaviour management strategies To liaise with outside agencies, and parents to provide effective levels of

social, emotional and learning support, when required To take part in the school’s staff development programme by participating in

arrangements for further training and professional development. To help to create a climate which enables teaching staff and students to

develop and maintain positive attitudes towards learning. To work as a member of a designated team and to contribute positively to

effective working relations within the school. To assist with the development and management of an extra-curricular

programme which enhances positive attitudes to school. To regularly review levels of support and methods of support for identified

students. To take part, as may be required, in the review, development and

management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisation andpastoral functions of the school.

To take part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Evenings,Parents Evenings, Review Days and liaison events with partner schools.

To promote the general progress and well-being of all students. To register students if needed, accompany them to assemblies, encourage

their full attendance and their participation in other aspects of school life. To communicate as appropriate, with the parents of students and with

persons or bodies outside the school concerned with the welfare ofindividual students, after consultation with the appropriate staff.
