The Australian War Memorial
The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial's purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. Its mission is to assist Australians to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society.
Under general direction the Education Officer, Public Programs will coordinate a Memorial-wide seasonal public program schedule, including a range of innovative gallery talks, tours and specialist programs to enhance the visitor experience.
The Education Officer, Public Programs develops and delivers family programs as well as projects, resources, and school learning programs aligned to the Australian Curriculum.
This role contributes to the training, development, and task performance of Education staff in program delivery, as well as regular reporting and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
Under general direction, Coordinate the Memorial’s public program schedule to provide an engaging visitor experience Contribute to the training and supervision of casual staff, building positive relationships and valuing diversity Liaise with visitors and staff across the Memorial to facilitate the delivery of public programs, identifying issues and providing
advice to staff and management. Develop and deliver a range of Education and public programs and school learning resources in accordance with the
Memorial’s strategic goals and the Australian Curriculum

1. Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced, flexible team environment, with the capacity to supervise, allocate tasks, and train others.
2. Strong sense of customer service, with highly effective communication skills with diverse audiences.3. Proven ability to analyse situations or issues using initiative and sound personal judgement to solve problems or implement
better work practices4. Well-developed writing skills to effectively draft administration briefs, reporting and training, as well as education resources.5. Experience in delivering interpretive programs in a museum environment to school visitors and the general public.
