The Events Of The Last Day (7th) Of The Feast Of
Tabernacles
The Masses were divided into 3 groups
• 1st: to stay in the temple and tend to the sacrifice
• 2nd: to go to the south of the city to get willow branches and bring to make a canopy over the alter
• 3rd: “Libation of water”
![Page 9: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
This began right before the
breaking of dawn with 3 long blast of the trumpet.
(rams horn). This signified that a
priest was selected for a
once in a lifetime opportunity.
![Page 10: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
![Page 11: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
The selected priest would go to the pool of Siloam in a procession about ½ miles away south of the temple.
Just after dawn there would be another blast
of the trumpet signifying that the priest was kneeling and drawing water (golden ½ gallon
pitcher).
![Page 12: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
![Page 13: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Then the priest would have
started walking back to the
temple with this pitcher. At this time, another series of blast would have
signified that the walk had begun.
![Page 14: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
![Page 15: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Along the route would have been 10-30
thousands of people screaming and
cheering.
As he came to the foot of the steps leading up
into the Temple, the crowd would magnify
their cheers as he stood still. Their
cheers was said to rumble like thunder
throughout Jerusalem
![Page 16: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
![Page 17: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
After the crowds cheers would have
calmed, there would have been another series of
blast of the trumpets.
This would have signaled the crowd
to come to absolute silence
![Page 18: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
![Page 19: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
At this point another priest would have
come out holding a vessel of wine and a vessel of oil in which the only sound you would have heard
was the sound of his feet shuffling across the staircase leading
up to the altar.
![Page 20: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
This was time to be at the same point as when the sacrifices would have been
laid out on the altar.
At the top of these stairs was the high priest decked out in his ceremonial garb and holding in each
had a silver cup.
![Page 21: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
At this moment the priest that had the golden vessel of
water and the priest that had the vessel
of wine, would present their vessels
The high priest would take the water and pour half in each of the silver vessels.
![Page 22: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
In one of the vessels the high priest would take and pour in the wine and in the other
olive oil.
The high priest would then take the vessels
and place them on the east and west side. In which a
single long blast on the trumpet would
occur
![Page 23: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
![Page 24: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
After this 7 selected priest would ascend
up the staircase as they would
softly lead the people in
reciting Psalms 113-118
![Page 25: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
At this point the 7 priest along with the high priest would
ceremoniously circle the altar 7
times as they continued
chanting the Psalms.
![Page 26: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Finally, the High Priest would take
the 2 silver vessels and hold them up high and
he would be reciting
(Isa 12:3) “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of
salvation.”
![Page 27: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
Then he would take the silver vessels and
pour them into a funnel, that lead to
the base of the altar.
At this point the crowd is totally and completely silent as the priest would take a portion of the law that was written an animal’s skin and
place it on the fire.
![Page 28: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
At this very moment he was to shout to the Lord to signify to the crowd to begin the cheers and praises to God.But this year just
before the priest would have
shouted, at that moment absolute
silence and anticipation
![Page 29: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
(Joh 7:38) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out
of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
(Joh 7:39) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
![Page 30: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
II. Application to the sinner
![Page 31: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
(Joh 7:40-46) Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a
truth this is the Prophet. Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the
seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? So there was a division among the people because of him.
And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. Then came
the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why
have ye not brought him? The officers answered, Never man spake like this
man.
![Page 32: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
III. Application to the saint
![Page 33: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
(Joh 7:38) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of
living water.
(Joh 7:39) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
![Page 34: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
(Gal 5:22-25) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,
faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they
that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also
walk in the Spirit.
![Page 35: (Joh 7:37) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (Joh 7:38)](https://reader036.vdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022070412/5697bf891a28abf838c8a07b/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
(Eph 5:9) (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness
and righteousness and truth;)
(Php 1:11) Being filled with the fruits of
righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
