THE RESPONSETHE RESPONSE

CONFIRMATION:THE REAFFIRMATION OF THE BAPTISMAL COVENANT

Confirmands

SponsorsPamela Osborne, Lesley Pella-Woo, Maci Sepp

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From Confirmands’ Statements of Faith, Psalm 139, and A Brief Statement of Faith) We believe God is Almighty, All-Powerful, and Eternal. God knows when we sit down and when we rise

up, discerning our thoughts from far away. God surrounds us and watches over us and all of creation. The hand of God leads us and holds us close. God is love. God’s love is revealed in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, a beacon of Light. Jesus performed miracles of healing; with fish and bread He fed thousands. He came to show us the Way; the Way of sacrifice, of forgiveness, and the Way of transformation. Christ is our Redeemer. The Holy Spirit dwells within us and gives us courage, strength, and determination. We are called by our faith to treat others with dignity and care, and to be accepting and inclusive. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER OF ADORATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Source of love and life, Your glory knows no bounds. We yearn to set aside our fears, but we are often

afraid. We long to love our sisters and brothers, but we often feel alienated from them. We desire to abide in You as You abide in us, but we can’t seem to figure out how. Show us once more how to love, for only love can cast out our fear. Show us how to love one another well, for only then can we truly know You. Show us how to abide in Your vine, for only then can we bear the fruit that glorifies Your name. Amen.
