the presence of his disciples, which

are not recorded in this book. But

these are written that you may

believe that Jesus is the Messiah,

the Son of God, and that be

believing you may have life in his

name….

Many stories not in the others

not in John that are in the

others and vice versa

WHO WAS JOHN?

Younger son of Zebedee, a fisherman

Mother – Salome the sister of Mary, mother of

Jesus

Brother of James

Fiery and ambitious, loyal and a great friend

Became an overseer of churches in Asia Minor

Known as kind and brave – amazing what God

can do!

HOW DID IT COME ABOUT?

In Ephesus as an old man reflecting on the life of

his friend, Jesus

Urged by friends and leaders to write a spiritual

Gospel

With a scribe to help he writes around 7 SIGNS

and 7 I AM SAYINGS

Signs are miracles and wonders pointing to

something greater, far deeper in meaning than the

sign itself

They are acts that demonstrate Jesus is involved in

the mess!
