John Christner Trucking Newsletter May 2018 Well, we have steamrolled through the first quarter of 2018 and the trucking story line can be described without exaggeration in one word: Historic! The mar- ket has allowed for rate increases from all of our shipping partners which in turn led to 3 separate pay increases to our operators for a total of 11% since November 2017, first time in the history of our company we’ve raised pay that many times in such a short period. The freight to capacity imbalance continues to be at unprec- edented levels, so it should prove to be a chaotic produce season when that mar- ket heats up. The weather continues to be a little unsettled in certain parts of the country (there was snow in upstate NY on April 30!) and the tornado season has so far been uneventful but far from over. All of our operators should make frequent checks on the weather in the areas to which they are traveling and our support staff will provide any information they have in order to keep everyone safe during the severe weather season. The reason we are one of the top temperature controlled fleets in the coun- try is all of you doing Whatever It Takes! We thank you for all that you do. John Christner Trucking Newsletter May 2018

Well, we have steamrolled through the first quarter of 2018 and the trucking story line can be described without exaggeration in one word: Historic! The mar-ket has allowed for rate increases from all of our shipping partners which in turn

led to 3 separate pay increases to our operators for a total of 11% since November 2017, first time in the history of our company we’ve raised pay that many times in such a short period. The freight to capacity imbalance continues to be at unprec-edented levels, so it should prove to be a chaotic produce season when that mar-ket heats up. The weather continues to be a little unsettled in certain parts of the country

(there was snow in upstate NY on April 30!) and the tornado season has so far been uneventful but far from over. All of our operators should make frequent checks on the weather in the areas to which they are traveling and our support staff will provide any information they have in order to keep everyone safe during the severe weather season. The reason we are one of the top temperature controlled fleets in the coun-

try is all of you doing Whatever It Takes! We thank you for all that you do.

Part I. Stepping for Wellness Starting June 1st — ends August 30th, $5 buy-in, top two teams split the money Teams of 2 — total steps of combined team members Keep a record of your steps either on your phone, fit bit or other method. Will tally re-sults on Thursdays

Part II. Walk Around the World The second part of our challenge will be a company wide challenge. Our goal is to walk the entire way around the globe in 90 days by combining ALL of our steps together in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe with our steps. It takes roughly 65 million steps to make one trip around the world. • Our start point will be in Sapulpa as we proceed walking to New York City

hitting U.S. cities along the way. • Next jump in the ocean and swim (step) to Lisbon, Portugal • From there walk through Madrid and on to Barcelona, Spain • Next jump in the Mediterranean sea and head for Corsica and then Rome,

Italy. • Next stop would be Istanbul, Turkey then stop in Bangladesh near India. • As we trek through China to Shanghai we will then swim across the East

China Sea to Tokyo, Japan. • Lastly, a long swim to Hawaii, and eventually on our way home to Sapulpa

from San Diego

We have 3 months to do this!!!

Coach Jeff will map our progress and update with interesting facts along the way. For more information please contact coach Jeff at [email protected] or 918.857.8600 (June 7th will be first day)

Joey Ribbens nominates Scott Conrad from the Driver Managers for the

May “Whatever It Takes” Award

Scott is committed and steadfast in his duties at JCT. He is the type of co-

worker and employee you can always count on. Day in and day out Scott is here for

both his drivers and his co-workers. Scott’s level head and problem solving under

pressure exemplifies what it takes to be a great Driver Manager. He takes problems

head on and works diligently to provide a solution. Scott is also the first one to vol-

unteer to help a co-worker in need, whether it is covering while on a lunch break or

covering a weekend, you can always count on Scott to lend a helping hand. This

kindness and loyalty extends to the drivers as well, not just drivers on his board.

Scott comes in early and stays until the job is done. There are countless times

Scott does “Whatever It Takes” to get the job done! That is why I have the honor to

nominate Scott Conrad for this award! Scott will be honored with a trophy. A

“Whatever It Takes” designated parking space in front of the building and a $50

“QuikTrip” gas card. He will also have the honor of naming next month’s

“Whatever IT Takes” winner.
