In 1996, I began working as an administrator with Farmington Public School district and met Peggy Johnson, the head secretary at one of the district’s elementary schools. I quickly learned that Ms. Johnson was the “go to” person for anything related to her school. With her ready smile and professional competence, Ms. Johnson earned the confidence of coworkers, parents, students, and anyone who had contact with the Akin Road Elementary School office. Because of her extraordinary reputation, Ms. Johnson was asked to help design and to manage a centralized document production center, which was initiated as a school district cost-savings and efficiency measure. Largely because of Ms. Johnson’s skill set, the Document Center was a success, saving over a hundred thousand dollars the first year and providing outstanding service to an initially skeptical teaching staff. In her role as Document Center Manager, Ms. Johnson handled vendor communications, training of more than five hundred users of the electronic submission system, troubleshooting, acquisition using public bid process, tracking, reporting, planning, and staff supervision. She played the key role in facility remodeling for the Document Center when it was initially sited and when it moved after outgrowing the first location. Although the management of these construction projects was arduous, multi-dimensional, and required precise phasing, Ms. Johnson achieved success in both instances. Ms. Johnson inspires trust in everyone with whom she works because of her warm personality and professional proficiency. I served as Ms. Johnson’s supervisor for several years prior to my retirement in 2011. Her secretarial skill set is rock solid. When she faced new challenges in her Document Center position, she researched the situations and consistently communicated with me, asking for advice when appropriate. Through her efforts, the school district’s document production center was selected to be highlighted in Konica-Minolta video and print marketing materials for an international campaign.

Under Ms. Johnson’s leadership the Document Center earned high marks for cost effectiveness and customer service.

Although Ms. Johnson’s work experience has been in public center, both her positions (head secretary and document production center manager) were not comprised of responsibilities unique to school districts, but rather, they are equivalent to similar positions in private sector. Any organization would be fortunate to employ Peggy Johnson. The work ethic, talent, and zest for life that Ms. Johnson brings to the work place pay dividends beyond her assigned role. She embodies the best an employee can bring to the table. I can unconditionally endorse Ms. Johnson to a prospective employer and am happy to answer questions about her qualifications.

Truly,

Rosalyn Pautzke
