We do this by hosting an annual outdoor concert and arts festival, bringing fine live music performances into the schools; and generating other ac- tivities that bring music and art to area audiences, create performance opportunities for musicians, and support school programs in the arts. We believe that a vibrant arts environment enhances quality of life. Arts and music contribute to economic development. According to research coordinated by the 2011 Gov- ernor’s Conference on Tourism, visitors who consider themselves “Cultural Travelers” stay longer and spend more money per visit than other travelers. As commu- nities compete for the tourist dollar, cultural attractions are vital assets. In Maine, a sample group of 14 cultural institutions was shown to generate tourism spending of $70 million annually and indirect sales impact of $148 million. What do we do for the community? Kingfield POPS events provide tens of thousands in economic impact to the regional economy annually. Our events attract visitors who shop, eat, and stay in the area, and enjoy local attractions. e area is the gateway to a multitude of outdoor recreational activities including hiking, biking, golf, zip lines, fishing, whitewater raſting, and kayaking. Concert tickets for all young people ages 17 and under are free of charge. We maintain moderate ticket prices; we keep the event affordable for families. We showcase our local talent, including youth, as well as internationally known musicians. Proceeds benefit youth; we bring live concerts and other music enrichment to regional schools.
