Washington: An aviation industry task force is recommending that operators be required to register drones weighing as little as a half a pound, a threshold that could include some remote controlled toys, industry officials said. Federal Aviation Administration officials who convened the 25 member task force on drone registration have said that they want to avoid requiring the registration of toys. But, the consensus of the group is that the weight threshold that triggers registration should be set at 250 grams or above, which is about a half pound, said people familiar with the deliberations. The threshold is based on the potential impact a drone that size would have if it fell from the sky and struck a person or collided with a helicopter or plane. The recommendations were expected to be submitted to the FAA by Saturday, December 5 th . The FAA than then modify them and the agency hopes to issue

Four people familiar with the advisorygroup's deliberations described theconclusions to the Associated Press,speaking on condition of anonymity becausethe FAA asked that the discussion be keptprivate.

We're Still Flyin!

Sunday, December 6 th was a very mild dayas far as December days go, temps in themid 50's plus a very calm day to be sure.Well, Kenny called a few of us and by gollyfour club members showed up for some nicelate season flying. Above, left to right areFred Rhode, Ken Reesey, and Roger Luther.Zane Kough arrived after the picture wastaken with his L-39 jet. Due to the cooltemperatures, the guys were all flyingelectrics this day. The field is still in prettygood shape, and the skunk damage willrequire minimal restoration work nextspring. Will we get to fly again inDecember? Who knows at this point, butmore days in the mid 50's are in the forcast.

December Meeting Recap Twelve club members showed up for theDecember meeting, held on Tuesday, the 1 s t.

During the meeting we also discussed thefield condition and possible fixes for theskunk damage. The port-a-john situation,and other plans for the winter months. KenReesey and Zane Kough obtained two newcable reel plane stands from the business outon Forrest Hill Road, next to Em's sub shop.We also will do the 500 two number ticketdeal for the mall show, like we did last year.Sam reported that both Grant Moore andCaleb Butler were in the hospital, althoughboth are back home now.

Neil showed off his half size Kadet Sr.Which is now almost ready for covering.Maybe he will have it done for the display atthe banquet in April and Mall Show.

Ken Reesey showed off his new AirplaneKiller, his electric E-Stick outfitted withsome very sharp combat stilettos! Boy thatshould do some real damage to his foes,right? (he asssured us that they areremovable and only for show!)

2016 Dues Now Due....... If you haven't already done so, get yourcheck book out and buy yourself a ChristmasGift, a membership in one of the best RCClubs in Pennsylvania! You will haveaccess to a great field, good fellowship,some wonderful picnic opportunities, andsome extra special events such as theupcoming In Door Fly In, our AnnualBanquet, and of course the Mall Show. Youcan also fly any day you wish at one of thebest flying fields around! The club dependson our dues for the majority of ouroperations, having only one other incomesource, the ticket sale during the mall show.

So, do yourself a favor and take care ofthis right away! On behalf of the officers ofthe club, we wish you all a very MerryChristmas and a very happy New Year!
