ABOUTAcross Missouri, thousands of families have been affected by disasters including flooding, tornados and ice storms. Through Joining Hands in the Heartland, we can come together to give those families a lasting gift. together to give those families a lasting gift. JHH engages community groups throughout the state to raise funds for appliances that were lost to natural disaster. The appliances are then given to families who are trying to start anew.

In the past year alone nearly 10,000 homes In the past year alone nearly 10,000 homes were affected, of which, over 3,000 were heavily damaged or destroyed. Nearly one-third of these affected homeowners were uninsured or

underinsured.

A SURVIVOR’S STORY“...I turned back briefly to look at our home and saw nothing but a pile of debris... I was emotionless as my eyes searched for anyone to help. I began to hear screaming from all directions. I then saw that a neighbor nearby directions. I then saw that a neighbor nearby had emerged from his pile of rubble. The only thing left of his home was the underneath part of his staircase where he and his family had

taken shelter...

REGISTEROnce you have established a group, view ourapplianceappliance guide to learn about average appliance prices. Together, choose which appliance(s) you would like to fundraise for. Register at acstl.org. Upon registration, you will be matched with a specific family.

RAISE FUNDSGetGet creative! Have a penny war, engage in yard work, host a garage sale, or even a bake sale. The options for raising funds are endless.

PURCHASEShop around! Not only can we help those affected by disaster this year, but we can also help their communities by shopping locally.

HELPHELPOnce your group has reached its fundraising goal, an appliance donation will be made to the specific family or individual for whom you are fundraising. Out of respect for the privacy of the homeowner, the delivery of appliances will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
