From the Principal

Jonathan Law High School is a community that exists to maximize the intellectual, the social, and the emotional growth of each student in a safe, stable, supportive environment.

April 2017 Dear Parents and Guardians, Despite Mother Nature’s persistence with winter, spring is finally here! Jonathan Law has had a busy start to the new season: the cotillion, spring sports, Bye-Bye Birdie, our NEASC preparation, and plenty of learning left to accomplish! All of this while keeping our primary mission at the forefront of everything we do, “to maximize the intellectual, the social, and the emotional growth of each student in a safe, stable, supportive environment.” Our mission extends into the Milford community as well, with so many of our students volunteering to help those in need all with little or no fanfare and not for recognition or reward. I am so proud of what we are doing at Jonathan Law as we continue our mission of preparing learners to meet and exceed the challenges and demands of the 21st century for current and future students through the dedication and support of staff, students, parents and community members. After all, We Are Lawmen…This Is Us! As we head into the final portion of the year, I want you to know that we are constantly striving to have our students feel connected and challenged both in their academic pursuits and as good citizens. With longer days and the gradual thaw upon us, I hope you have a wonderful April, and that you continue to find time for family and friends. Sincerely,

Press Release Foran and Law fencers take wins at State Championships at Hopkins

New Haven, CT, March 6th 2017: The combined Law and Foran Fencing Team took a total of

22 wins at the Connecticut High School Individual Fencing Championships at the Hopkins School in

New Haven- twice as many wins as last year! In their biggest squad yet, fifteen of Milford’s top

fencers went up against the "best of the best" statewide and made an excellent accounting of

themselves for Milford. In only her first year of fencing, women’s senior epee fencer Allie Hessberger

led Milford to the best finish in 4 years, losing in a tough 3rd round 14-15. Women’s Co-captains

Kavitha Mohanarajan and Arshia Puri battled in women’s foil, and Sydney Messey and Hannah

Penkacik fought in the sabre division, while Paula Perez and Lily Smith notched wins in women’s

epee. In the Men’s division, Troy Gallipoli made it to the second round losing a tough bout 13-15, and

his epee teammates Ben Kissinger and Brandon Comacho also notched wins. In men's foil, Matt

Rothchild and Adam Davies each took a bout. Finally, Milford’s three men's sabre fencers worked

together scoring six wins to place high enough to qualify for the Team State Fencing Championships

at Norwich Free Academy, where Matteo Menta and men’s co-captains Andrew Hiza and Cellan

Whaley took Milford to 7th place in the State!
