To read is truly different from witnessing. During Rizal course, it is necessary that we study thus read Rizal's life and works. It felt like I already understood him even just by reading but while watching the film Jose Rizal by Marilou Abaya, it is as if I were on the scene itself. In every poem that was recited by Cesar Montano who played the role Jose Rizal, I was magnetized. Some were exaggerated nonetheless it invoked strong emotions from the audience. I've come to realized how little did I truly understood Rizal. This only indicates that the actors and actress portrayed the actions and emotions pretty well. Power was given in the right words thus abstracting strong emotions from the audience. The film was also excellent in portraying the way of clothing, of depicting the classic places during Rizal's time. I can't argue more with the film. The only I trouble I had while watching the film was that it was not set in chronological order. I mean the set up was to reminisce Rizal's life while he is already in prison but there were some scenes that were not in order. I'm almost done with my Rizal course and yet I had a little difficulty with regards to the stated problem. If this is the case then the public will truly have a hard time in understanding some parts of the film. To wrap it up, the cast and the crew were successful in obtaining their objective which is to show the life or bibliography of Dr. Jose Rizal.
