TECH CREW INTERVIEWS:

DATES & LOCATION: December 3 and 5, 2019 – Fay Auditorium

Tech Crew Overview The Wyoming Middle School Drama Program Tech Crew is designed as an activity for any 5th-8th grade student with a genuine interest for the technical process of theatrical productions. Within the WMS Drama Program, the Tech Crew refers to ALL jobs NOT on stage performing and is an activity that can grow in responsibility from 5th–8th grade as students change positions. Or it can be something new for a student in 8th grade to try for the first time. A different Tech Crew is designated for each production – the fall play, winter musical, and spring variety show – with tailored to fit the specific needs of each show. We are looking for responsible, quiet, hard-working students who want to learn more about the technical process behind the scenes of a drama production.

Please look at your availability to be sure you can commit to Tech Crew. The various Tech Crew positions all have a different commitment level (please refer to Tech Crew Information packet for guidelines). In addition, there will be various training sessions scheduled throughout the production for each position, including the KICK-OFF REHEARSAL/MEETING for All Cast & Crew on Monday, January 6, 2020, 3:20-5:30 PM.

Tech Crew Positions for the Winter Musical WMS Tech Crew is redesigned as a training program for students to develop skills needed in the Wyoming Middle School Drama Program productions and to potentially feed into the Wyoming High School Theatre Arts Tech Crew is students wish to pursue this in high school (really, students deserve the flexibility to try some new things in middle school and change their course by high school – we get that). Tech Crew areas of training might include possibilities in areas such as:

• Costume Crew (Costume Assistants/Dressers, Hair/Wigs, Make-up) • Front of House Crew (Front of House Manager, Box Office, Candy-Grams,

Concessions, Greeters, Lobby Design, Programs, Tickets, Ushers) • Lighting Crew (Light Board/Lights, Spotlights) • Marketing and Publicity Crew (Advertising Sales for Inclusion in Program,

Publicity, Announcements, Posters, Show Shirts, Social Media • Rehearsal and Performance Crew (Stage Manager / Assistant Stage Manager /

Stage Manager-in-Training) • Props Crew (Properties Master, Properties Assistant, Properties in Training) • Set Crew (Set Construction and Painting) • Stage Crew (Curtain, Stagehands, Runners) • Sound Crew (Sound Board, Body Mics, Microphones)

1. Sign up for one of the audition days on either December 9 or 11:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054AACAE29A13-cast

(Note: Please be sure to also include the name of the individual student auditioning. Audition music will be sent via email, though, to the address used for the SUG once per day for new sign ups. In the meantime, audition songs and cast recordings can be easily found online.)

2. Complete the Cast & Tech Crew Audition/Interview Form (pp. 10-16 of this packet). Remember to have a parent or caregiver sign the form!

• School pictures will work great. • You will not get these photographs back. • These do not need to be professionally done.

4. Everyone will have to dance, so bring appropriate clothing and shoes. Don’t worry if you are not a great dancer, this is just to see what abilities people have for the show, so have fun.

5. Everyone will also have to sing; if you are interested in one of the principal dancer roles, don’t worry about being an amazing singer-we just need to hear what your voice sounds like.

6. Choose the appropriate vocal material from the attached list for the role(s) you are most hoping to be cast and practice, practice, practice. (Note that individuals (of any gender orientation) interested in the roles of the Narrator or Joseph should be familiar with all songs noted.)

7. Arrive early, 3:20 PM, to Fay Auditorium on your specific audition day with your completed, signed Audition form and headshot.

8. Be prepared to be at your audition for the entire time (from 3:30-5:30 PM). The schedule will vary by day and you may end up dancing or singing at the beginning (or both!).

9. Bring something quiet to do while you are waiting. 10. NO CELL PHONES ARE ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM DURING AUDITIONS

OR REHEARSALS. 11. Be polite and flexible. Auditions take time, and we need to make sure we see

everything we need to see. If you are asked to do a lot of different things, this is a good thing – it means you are being considered for several roles!

The Wyoming Middle School Drama Program expects a high level of commitment to the musical production and fellow cast members. Attendance is MANDATORY at all rehearsals at which you are scheduled and for which you have not indicated a conflict below. Any non-pre-arranged or unexcused absences following the submission of this audition form may result in being pulled from a number or scene or, in egregious cases, dropped from the show at the Director’s and Production Manager’s discretion.
