BROCHUREDESCRIPTION:A two sided [duplex] folding brochure.

PROCESS:I started by looking at good design to nd inspiration and a gooddirection. I then started sketching and used my best idea to makea paper mock-up. I set up a reversed oset brochure fold in AdobeInDesign and started laying out my design by measuring my papermock-up. I nished most of the design early on with lorum ipsum

lling in the major text boxes then added the actual text later. My overall design is all about a hotel in space, as such I used blackwith a translucent star overlay as a base background for both thefront and inside background of my brochure. I chose to leave theback black as the background color for beer readability.

I found some great futuristic images of the room, satellite andholodeck then modied each in Photoshop cuing out what I didnot want and adding what I did want. I coupled that with a fontI thought really said Im modern but also spaceyand anothersimple font that went seamlessly well with it.

The placement alignment and groping on this brochure was quitechallenging. It took the longest it ever has to ne tune this project. This is probably my favorite project this year as a whole eventhough parts of other projects also were extremely fun to do.

OBJECTIVES:Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Learn how to wraptext around an image. Learn to use paragraph styles in InDesign.

WEBPAGEDESCRIPTION:A web page designed to showcase a personally created logo.

PROCESS:I created this web page using Notepad++ and Text wrangler. I didsome HTML and CSS work a few years ago and its amazing what Iam still capable of. It was also good to learn about W3s validationtools for HTML and CSS.

I rst marked up all my content and inserted my logo, next I

aached a pre-made CSS document to my HTML. I then usedmonochromatic blue for the colors on my web page. I found thesecolors as I was looking for cool classic colors on a color wheel. Ialso changed my font to Palatino Linotype. I declared some backupfonts just in case the viewers browser didnt have this font. I alsoused padding around the logo and text and other arias so that theywould not be too close to the edge of the web page. Spacing andalignment is still one of the most challenging parts of doing CSS.

OBJECTIVES:Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page. Writecontent to describe the process of creating your logo and how itappeals to a target audience. Design a web page using HTML todisplay a logo and content. Acquire a working knowledge of HTMLand basic understanding of CSS. Identify hex colors for web design.Compress multiple les in a zipped folder to aach as one le.

EVENTADDESCRIPTION:A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fund raiser using onlyMicrosoft Word and a scanner.

PROCESS:First I created many varied sketches for my design. I then searchedfor a scannable image that would t with one of my designs. I useda radar image and grabbed my monochromatic green hue directlyfrom the image for a nice uniform color. I added the text and drop

shadows to create contrast and readability. I also blacked out somenumerical elements at the top of the image which were distractingand not needed.

OBJECTIVES:Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a full-bleeddesign. Use text boxes for layout in Word. Insert and edit images inWord.

LOGOSDESCRIPTION:Three logo variations for the same company.

PROCESS:I learned a lot and enjoyed making the logos for this project inIllustrator. I learned most about how to use the pen tool, I used itextensively to create believable images and to get the shapes curvesand uniqueness I wanted right up front, with out needing to workwith an ellipse or other rectangle tool. I found that good logos are

often made by using good source material and not by drawingfrom memory. I also learned to combine shapes using the [shift +M] tool.

OBJECTIVES:Create a variety of logos to t a company or personal image.Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

FLIERDESCRIPTION:Black & White promotional ier to promote a graduate leadershipconference.

PROCESS:First I created many varied sketches for my design. I asked a fewpeople which sketch they thought would be best geing someearly critiques. I then used my best sketch to create this generallayout on Adobe InDesign. I used boxes in groups of three slowly

changing the amount of black per box for repetition contrast andow. I further emphasized the word graduate as a secondary focalpoint and the question Do you want to have the competitive edgein business? as an eye catching action provoking focal point. Idivided my ier up into deliberate sections and left my body copysmall while still showing the progression that is roughly- graduate,do you want come learn how. Finally i also placed my time andlocation in an easy to nd location but small enough as to notcompromise my focal point.

OBJECTIVES:Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic ier layout.Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document tokeep links intact.
