Since winter is my least favorite season of the year, the advent of spring is a welcome event in my life. Although the snowfall we experienced in our most recent wintertime was beautiful it couldn’t atone for the bleak, cloudy cold days that seemed to go on forever. I will have to deal with my annual allergy attacks but I will gladly endure them for the sheer joy of experiencing the beauty of things blooming and budding and the late afternoons and early evenings filled with sunshine and laughter. But then again, perhaps my enjoyment of spring would be diminished were it not for those months of winter increasing my longing for springtime. So I choose to be thankful, not only for spring, but also for winter. The Father knows that one increases my appreciation for the other and both are good gifts from His loving hand. There seems to be a high level of anticipation as we prepare to begin utilizing our new Phase 2 education facility this coming Sunday. This additional space will enable us to continue reaching people that God is bringing into our part of Madison County, giving ample space for Sunday School classes, music instruction, missions education, discipleship training and a variety of other uses that facilitate our working to fulfill the Great Commission right here on our campus. I am so thankful for your patience as the project has been proceeding and even more grateful for the ongoing financial support you provide that enables us to pay for our facilities while still remaining strong in our funding of missions and ministry locally and around the world. Speaking of missions, I was personally blessed by the sharing from our South Asia Mission Team Sunday evening. Their testimonies spoke with the authority of personal experience to the impact serving as a volunteer missionary can have on your understanding of lostness and the responsibility of every believer to share the wonderful good news of Jesus’ gift of salvation, whether that sharing takes place across the ocean or across the street. We should all celebrate the fact that God is enabling our church to have a worldwide ministry, not only through our giving through the Cooperative Program and special mission offerings, but through the sending out of our own missionaries. By the way, your gifts of $2,606 this last Sunday will enable the Gideons to place scores of copies of the Bible in high traffic places around the world that are sure to result in changed lives. Bro. Thank you!    If you missed it, you missed it!  Brian Schneider, Ed Wil‐son,  and  Paul  Cleveland  did  an  exceptional  job  of  showing  a  large group of adult Sunday school workers how to have a transformational class.  Steve Jernigan, John Vandiver, and Glen Sanders were responsi‐ble for choosing these guys to lead us.  They obviously hit a home run as well.  John and Glen utilized their cooking skills as they provided a great breakfast to kick things off.   Even our pastor turned‐up to eat!  Thank you  teachers, workers and members  for your commitment  to transformational Sunday school.

Trading Spaces! Nearly every adult class is moving!   Some are changing rooms  in the same  building,  others  are moving  to  new digs  in  the  South Building.    Yes,  the  keys have  been  handed  over  and  it will  be  ok for  you  to  wander  into  the  new  spaces.  Thank you  church  for  realizing  the  impor‐tance  of  Christian  spiritual  formation  and transformational  teaching  through Sunday school,  discipleship,  missions  education

and  other  small  groups.    You  have  out‐done  yourself!   We  are  so proud  of  our  new  space  and  commit  to  use  it  to God’s  glory  each week.  Classroom  Locations…Each adult Sunday  school  family will  receive a map,  this  week,  with  classroom  assignments  for  all  adult  classes.  Watch the mail!  If you have questions please email me.    New Sunday School Classes…We have five new units beginning either this week or in the next weeks.  Here is information on three:

“Our God Reigns”

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of  him who brings good news,

Who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, and says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Isaiah 52:7  Late one evening  in 1973,  Lenny  Smith  felt overwhelmed by  the difficulties of his life.  He’d lost his teaching position because of his zeal to tell students about Christ.  Finances were tight and his sec‐ond child was soon to be born.   Desperate for comfort, he picked up his Bible  and began  reading  in  Isaiah.   When he  reached  the 52nd chapter, he was struck by what he read: “How  lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news.”  Powerfully, the truth pierced his heart: His  life was safe  in the hands of Jesus who  reigns over all details.    Inspired by  this strong assurance, he picked up his guitar and in minutes had written the first verse and chorus of “Our God Reigns” taken straight from Isaiah 52:7.  As Passion Play week rapidly approaches with the nightly demands of rehearsals and the presentation itself, scores and scores of dedi‐cated  choir,  cast  and  crew members  as well  as  ushers,  greeters and many other support personnel are either anxiously awaiting or seriously dreading the process.    I want you to know  I understand and  I want to encourage you with the words above from  Is. 52:7.  With the process of the next three weeks bearing down on me this morning,  I  found myself  singing  the  song:  “Our  God  Reigns.”    I hope you will all be encouraged by these words from God’s Word.  Joyfully In His Service and Yours,

We are so excited about the Phase 2

building  completion!    The  day  can‐

not come soon enough when we will

be able to fully utilize the new space

provided.    The  student  commons

space is awesome! While we will not

use  it  this  coming Wednesday,  the

15th, we plan to be able to use  it for

the  first  time  on  the  following

Wednesday,  the 22nd.   We also plan

to have a grand opening  for  the space on Sunday night  the 27th.

This  space will be used  immediately  as  a  gathering  space before

and after Greenhouse.  It will provide a wonderful atmosphere for

our  students  and  adults  to  continue  the  process  of  establishing

quality relationships.

In  the  long  run, our student commons space will also be used on

Sundays in the mornings and evenings.  Before we can begin using

it  in this capacity, we need to transition the east wing classrooms

from  children’s  ministry  space  into  student  ministry  space.

Through Wednesday night of  this week  the east wing will  still be

used for children’s ministry activities.  Once the children move into

the  new  building we  can  begin  the  transition  process which will

include the removal of children’s ministry  items, and some recon‐

figuration for students.  After the completion of these changes, we

will  rearrange where  our  students meet  on  Sundays  in  order  to

fully take advantage of the added space.

For the time being our students will remain in their current Sunday

School classrooms.  We will make announcements letting everyone

know when we are able to occupy the additional space. Thanks so

much for your support and patience!

The  report  on  South  Asia  last night  touched  me  greatly.    To hear the words that Jason shared about the excuses we use to not go on mission was touching.   Lis‐tening  to Mark  share  about  the difference hope makes  in an en‐tire village was challenging.   Lau‐rie sharing that her biblical world

view was broadened with an ability  to  see  the urgency  in  sharing Christ with  those  that are  lost was mind blowing.    I hope your  life was touched by the spirit of God  last night.   Words cannot replace the experience.  Don’t wait to just hear of the Lord’s work.  Go and experience Him  for  yourself.    Push back  the darkness  and  let  the light of Christ shine through.  (In last night’s mission report we were able to be specific about the location of the experience. This was by permission.  We will never

put the specific location in print as this could jeopardize those liv‐ing in country.)   Serving the City Mission opportunity  is  just a few weeks away.      In addition  to working out of Madison and Huntsville, we will have a couple of work projects here at Mount Zion.  Sign up to let us know that you want  to help and  in what areas.   Make your plans  to  in‐clude the family that morning in mission activities.   Summer is just around the corner.  Pick up a mission brochure, pray over where God might want  you  to  be  involved.   And, make  the commitment.  Until you make the commitment it’s like a man going fishing. Until he actually puts the baited hook  in the water, there’s no  commitment.   Ask God where  you  should  serve  this  year  and make the commitment to be obedient… pray, go, and serve.
