DIMENSIONS: Participatory protection information gathering and research in line with

ICRC standards and ethics in protection work Protection analysis and report writing and sharing of information with

advocacy teams at the headquarters Local advocacy and representation in field protection cluster and sub-

clusters (e.g. GBV and child protection clusters) other relevant inter-agency coordination groups

Coordination and engagement with field offices of humanitarian agencies for our information dissemination activities and referrals

Weekly and monthly activity planning Strong technical understanding and leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organise and lead field protection data gathering and analysis Support protection advocacy assessments or surveys (eg return or

relocation intention survey)

JOB PROFILE Prepare written protection updates for Oxfam situation reports Work with WASH and EFSVL teams to coordinate community based

orientation sessions on basic, specialist services and referral pathways Follow-up INGOs and UNHCR about brochures and other information

materials for distribution to IDPs and resettled/relocated families Support protection advocacy researches and surveys Attending protection and GBV working group meetings and sharing

highlights with the management Manage partnership grants with local NGOs implementing protection

activities (eg legal assistance for retrieval or legal documents of disaster-affected people)

Support and coordinate with MEAL Officers for baseline survey, post-distribution and other monitoring activities.

Submit monthly MEAL reports to track the beneficiary numbers of the information dissemination and referral activities

Provide written feedback about protection incidents, issues and aid-related community-conflicts

Alert WASH and EFSVL teams about vulnerable individuals for inclusion as beneficiary in WASH and EFSVL services

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

Demonstrable experience in working with communities in humanitarian or development contexts

Demonstrable experience in using participatory research and assessment methodologies

Good understanding and knowledge in application of do no harm, conflict sensitivity principles and ICRC standards and ethics for protection work

Good understanding of protection and IDP issues related to conflict including some basic human right, IDP rights and land and housing rights and related issues

Good levels of spoken and written English Commitment to a rights-based approach, protection and gender

equality Proven analytical skills Understanding of monitoring processes, learning, adaptation and

evaluation Ability to work in multi-cultural team Willingness to work in insecure environments and a high level of

adaptability and initiative
