EDUCATION IN VIRTUES

Little Deacons to Grade 8

May 17 Virtue of the week: FORESIGHT

Know It: Consideration of the consequences of one’s actions; thinking ahead.

Live It: Ages 3 and up: Think about the options: “Let me think about what will

happen if…”

Ages 10 and up: Learn how to gather information to make a decision: plan

ahead for tests and projects.

Ages 12 and up: Pray, think, act; learn how to gather information to make a

decision; plan out long-term and short-term goals.

Pray It: Dear Jesus, When I come upon situations that require serious thought,

please send Your Holy Spirit to guide me, that I may always do Your holy

will. Guide me with Your counsel and give me the courage to act rightly

when it is difficult. Amen

Saint: St. Gregory the Great: the son of a Roman senator, was governor of Rome when

he was called to the religious life. After founding six monasteries, he was elect-

ed pope. As the supreme pontiff he worked hard to organize and guide the

Church: he created an improved calendar, still in use today, and protected the

city from barbarians. He also saved the people from famine by organizing

Rome’s granaries. He brought more order to sacred music, and the Church

continues to appreciate his contributions to the liturgy.

PIANO LESSONS

Piano teacher Colleen Hathaway is offering piano lessons for ages 6 and up in her home in

West Fargo. Colleen is a niece to Holy Spirit’s Mrs. Breen and is active as a church pianist in

West Fargo. For more information visit her website at hathawaypianostudio.com, call/text

Trinity Youth Camp

Trinity Youth Camp is the oldest established Catholic youth camp in the state of North Dakota. Annette Mears and Dorothy Gustafson founded Trinity Youth Camp in 1978 through a shared vocation to bring the love of Christ to children in our region through a fully immersive, faith-based experience in the great outdoors. They recognize the importance of passing on the light and beauty of our Catholic faith to the next generation and continue to fulfill this mission eve-ry summer.

The outdoor camping experience provides a unique opportunity to unplug from the continu-ous distractions of this generation, a time to step back and create fulfilling and meaningful re-lationships based in faith. Camp is a time to tune into the peaceful beauty of nature, taking time to reconnect with God and one another in a fun, prayerful, and powerful way campers will remember their entire lives.
