Selected Achievements
Leadership Management and IntegrityAs a Lance Corporal to a communicator’s detachment, I was directly accountable for the organisation of communications for multiple training projects; this included equipment care and maintaining communications. As the leader I was required to collect and secure secret equipment during these projects to prevent a compromise. In the event of a communications failure, I was expected to manage and control problematic solving in order to find a solution to rectify and re-establish communications.
Selected Achievements
Multi-Tasking, Flexibility and Adaptability A major requirement of a Royal Marines Commando is to carry out various tasks and take on different roles in constantly changing environments around the globe. I was deployed in Afghanistan to conduct both a radio specialist role, where I maintained and operated communications equipment, and to perform an infantry role, where it was vita that I remained vigilant, professional and focused at all times, especially during patrols. Alongside this, I carried out an intelligence collection role whilst on patrol where I learnt how to use various tools, including operations cameras and finger print detectors, in order to build a picture of the communities residing in the areas surrounding military checkpoints.
Fault FindingAs part of my communications specialist role, I regularly used complex data systems and radios to achieve communications, using both voice and data. However these systems are temperamental at times and prone to various faults such as, simple power faults, radio frequency problems and antenna propagation issues. With good subject knowledge and a lot of common sense, I often found and rectified these faults.
