Benalla Bowl Winners Despite the threat of rain nearly 100 golfers
descended upon Benalla Golf Club on Thursday
2nd May for this year’s Maie O’Shea Bowl. 24
team representing 14 clubs competed. Our Jubilee
girls came out the winners. The team consisted of
Carol Myles (37) Linda Stone (37), Judy Fogarty
(38), and Helene Gallo (33)
The event is named after Maie O’Shea who was a
very keen and successful golfer. She had been the
ladies’ champion, President and became a Life
Member of Benalla GC. Her family owned the
Benalla Ensign (a major sponsor of the day) for
over 70 years. Benalla Ensign sports journalist Meg
Saultry presented the trophy to the Jubilee team.

Mal played golf the following Saturday. My secret

the tee on the 13th with his 5 iron and said,
‘Come on old faithful’
Bang
Straight into the dam.
Then Mal went on holiday.
Attila’s playing partners weren’t looking and didn’t
believe him when he told them what they had
missed seeing his hole in one.
