Julia Park, a native of Korea, is a graduate of La Sierra Univeristy and the Loma Linda School of Dentistry. She received a B.A. with an emphasis in Piano Performance from La Sierra University, where she is also currently a Performer’s Certificate student studying under Dr. Elvin Rodriguez. During the years of her piano performance, she has competed in such competitions as the Young Musicians’ Competition, in which she received first places for the High School I and II categories in 2003 and 2004; the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, 2003-2005, in which she competed in the complete works final after advancing in the regional rounds. She was also a prize winner in the Inland Empire Piano Festival for several years in the solo and concerto categories including first places in Solo Division IVC in 2003, Solo Division VC in 2005, Concerto Division A in 2003, and Concerto Division B in 2004. She was invited to perform in the Certificate of Merit Panel Finals in 2004 and 2005, and was chosen to perform the Music Teachers’ Association of California Convention recitals from 2003 to 2005. Julia is a winner of the 48th and the 50th Annual Concerto Competition at La Sierra University. In 2009, she received the Dean’s Award for College of Arts and Sciences and graduated Cum Laude as a music major. In the summer 2006, she had the opportunity to attend the Ameropa International Music Festival in Prague, Czech Republic. As a result of her performance, she was invited to participate in the Mozart Piano Festival in Austria in the summer of 2007. In the summer of 2007, she was also accepted, and participated, in the PianoSummer at New Paltz, NY where she studied with Vladimir Feltsman and other renowned Russian pianists. Julia loves being an active part of various music ensembles as a flutist and an organist at LSU as well as other organizations such as the First Baptist Church of Riverside and Riverside Lyric Opera.
