The FSS Graduation PicnicWe would like to let all our Fss participants know just how fun the graduauon

picnic was. We hope that all those who attended enjoyed their time at the park. Iknow we had a great time. The best time was when we dd the 'get to know you"scavenger hunt. How fun was that? I think we got to every question except for one:the who had a twin questlon. The whole ideawasto get each other to loosen upand get to know one another, to see who you were surrounded by and have fun.We also had other activities like upside down apple bobbing. There were alsoactivities to keep children occupied. we had bubbles, water balloons and sidewalk

chalk. The children loved it. Playing the games ended up bringing outeverlonet appetites. so we ended up bringing out the chips and

sandwiches. The food was great. Thanlc to subway on Kinser Pikeand Roly Poly for proMding the food.

Once we were done eating it was time for the graduation ceremony. We werehoping to have more graduates in attendance, but we were happy tohave the two graduates that did come to the picnic. We wereglad to see all those who came cut to the FsS grdduationpicnic. It was a fun time. HopefulV we will see more FSSparticipants attend our events and activities more often.Thanl6 to all those who did participate.

A success story from a Public Housing Tenant: Shana TaylorI moved to credmont in June 2003. I \/as pregnant, in debt. and had nohingbut my car and a basket of clothes for myself and my baby girl. I dkjnt knowhow life was going to turn out, but I knew that I had dreams! I attended collegewhen I first g raduated from high sdrool back in 1997, but I didn't have mypriorities in line so I didn't make it very far. When I finally got established as asingle mom I began to pay off my debt and I enrolled in Ivy Tedr in the fall of2004. I \ /as only able to go part time due to other obligations, but I kept at itand never gave up! In he fall of 2005 I bansferred to IU to begin my programin gementary Education. Little did I know that he next five years would beboh he bngest and shoftest years of my life! I finally graduated with aBadrelor of Science Degree in gementary Education and have recived IndianaState teacher certifkation for Eementary K-6! Now I am relentlessly pur$ingtedching opportunities all over the nation. I believe that my dreamE hard wor(and foors have brought me b this point! My faith has also played a big part in

my sucess. Without iL I am not sure that I could have endured some of thehard times that I faced trrough it all! There will always be a reason to not goafter your dreams. but the desire to make a change in the cycle of life faroutweighs any obstacle that would try to stand in the way. So now, I thankBloomington Housing Auhority for being a place I ouH call home for sevenyears. BHA was here for me a pivotal time in my life and has remained therethrough it all. However thankful I am, I am also glad to say that my days hereare probably numberedl I encourage everyone to use BHA for what was meantfor; its a place to help those in need and those who want to help themselvesand their children for a better tomorrow!
